This Saturday, we're distributing three tanker trucks of syrup (13,000 gallons) and nearly 40,000 pounds of bee pollen substitute to beekeepers in need after Hurricanes #Helene and #Milton. This distribution in Winter Haven, FL, alongside Mann Lake Bee & Ag Supply and the Florida State Beekeepers Association, is part of our larger mission to help feed billions of bees in the southeastern U.S. that were impacted by the storms. During our emergency pet airlift, something special happened. The Southwest Airlines pilot Captain Matt met a sweet kitty named Avery—and couldn’t resist her charm! ?????? Not only did he help fly her out of shelters impacted by the recent hurricanes, he also decided to make her part of his family! ? Thanks to your generosity, 145 pets like Avery are safe and soon to find loving homes. In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene near Asheville, NC, an 8-year-old boy came to one of our aid distributions through the local YMCA with his mom. He showed up ready to help however was needed, even though his own family is struggling after #Helene's devastation. His parents are deeply involved in the community and it was clear that kindness runs in their family. This young soccer lover spent his day helping us hand out emergency packs to others in need, his smile an immediate bright spot for everyone he encountered. His willingness to pitch in and help is a reminder of the incredible spirit of community, even in the hardest times. Greater Good Charities has delivered aid to over 41 communities and 122+ trucks filled with essentials, but individuals like this young boy truly show how we can all #AmplifyTheGood. In response to Hurricanes #Helene and #Milton, Greater Good Charities is partnering with Southwest Airlines? and Lucky Dog Animal Rescue to deliver humanitarian supplies to communities in crisis in North Carolina. Then, today the GGC team and Southwest employees will load 145 pets who were in shelters prior to the storms onto a donated Southwest Airlines aircraft. They include these cats and dogs Sharona, Tova, Avery, Jimmy, Lucian and Pilot! After working with a local licensed veterinarian from Banfield Pet Hospital to examine the pets and provide health certificates, we’ll airlift them out of the Southeast to the Midwest to find new homes! This emergency transport of supplies into impacted areas and shelter pets out allows us to support more displaced and injured pets from these disasters and the shelters caring for them.
