The Mill City Neighborhood here in Dallas is a historically rich community that blends its industrial past with an evolving present. Once home to grain mills and manufacturing facilities in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, it played a key role in the city's economic growth. GDPC Highlight Series: DFW Airport Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), built in 1974, was the largest airport ever constructed at the time, doubling the size of any previous airport. From its inception, DFW has consistently achieved significant milestones - whether in size, flight volume, or innovation, solidifying its reputation as a leader in the aviation industry. From utilizing modular construction techniques to becoming the first carbon-neutral airport in North America, DFW continues to revolutionize the passenger experience - because, let’s face it, airports don’t always have the best reputation. But innovation isn’t just about infrastructure; DFW states their employees are the backbone of its success. The airport recently unveiled an ambitious $9 billion capital improvement program, aligning seamlessly with its 2025-2029 strategic plan. This transformation includes more than 180 construction projects designed to enhance efficiency, elevate customer experience, and redefine what’s possible in air travel. No surprise, then, that DFW has been named “Best Large Airport in North America” for customer service two years in a row by Airports Council International.
