The Greater Women's Business Council (GWBC?) is a non-profit organization for certified women business enterprises (WBEs) in Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina interested in promoting, developing and maintaining business relationships with major corporations, governmental agencies and other women business enterprises. The GWBC? increases the competitive advantage of women in business through: ? Certification of bona fide WBEs ? Education and development through programs and informational resources on women in business and supplier diversity ? Creation of opportunities for networking between WBEs, major corporations and government agencies GWBC? is a certifying partner organization of the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) and in 2007 was named WBENC's "Partner Organization of the Year" for being the premier third-party certification agency for WBEs. Through the affiliation with WBENC, GWBC? provides certification that is nationally recognized and accepted by over 1000 major corporations. It is because of WBENC and GWBC's commitment and expertise to apply the highest possible certification standards in the industry so that our corporate members and partners have access to quality WBEs nationally and regionally. Among the many inspirational speakers about “the Future We Create,” we heard from Tia Robinson, Founder of Vertical Activewear, and a GWBC certified WBE. She shared a poignant story about her trip to South Africa and witnessed mass waste, and how this experience shaped her point of view about the importance of ESG strategies. Join the GWBC team and Robert Kaster, the founder of El Vinedo Local, a restaurant featuring South American wines and cuisine. On March 5 from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m., Robert will cover wines from vineyards founded and operated by three South American women: ? Casa Marin Winery in Lo Abarca, Chile was founded by Maria Luz Marin in 2000. ? Cousino - Macul Winery in Maipo Valley, Chile was founded by Isidora Goyenechea and her husband in 1878. ? Tapiz Winery in Mendoza, Argentina was founded in 2003 and is owned By Patricia Ortiz. Robert will discuss the characteristics of the wines, the history of the winemakers and the women’s business savvy and entrepreneurial spirit in a male-dominated industry.
