Did you know that an AI search takes 10x more energy than a typical internet search? This means that as we think about AI advancements, we should also think about increasing energy demands. In the Greater Seattle region, we are leading the way with these conversations at events such as Policy Matters: Fueling the AI Revolution-People, Power, Purpose, hosted by the Technology Alliance earlier this week! Understanding the educational pipeline that is supporting AI growth, the increasing energy demands, and the benevolent uses of AI (from wildfire and energy management, advancing accessibility, to identifying new applications for existing drugs to treat neglected diseases) is necessary as there is already a thriving ecosystem of over 600+ AI companies headquartered in Greater Seattle (Crunchbase, 2024). Seattle was also recently ranked?2nd among cities with at least 500,000 residents for?AI talent (SignalFire 2024). Here is a map of leading AI companies I've been working on at Greater Seattle Partners. It is a small sampling of leading AI companies (by no means all!), organized by subsector and to be continually expanded on. Do you know of others that should be added to the map? Feel free to reach out :) #ai #greaterseattle #aiconvergence Ai2

I love learning about all the amazing startups in our region, and last week was no exception. I got the opportunity to chat with Jason Fontana, a co-founder and CEO of Wayfinder Biosciences, a drug discovery startup pioneering new therapies targeted at RNA structure. Their technology combines RNA biophysics, molecular biology and machine learning to identify small molecule drugs against disease-causing RNAs. Modern drug discovery and tech bio companies leverage unique data and technology to improve, enhance and accelerate life science processes. Founded in 2021, Wayfinder Biosciences is currently at CoMotion at University of Washington, a multi-industry incubator for early-stage startups from the greater Seattle region. Greater Seattle’s Life Science startup ecosystem is impressive. Just to give a glimpse, here is my first pass at a “molecule” infographic of 100+ regional life science startups. Do you know of others that should be added? Please reach out! ?? At Greater Seattle Partners, we love to learn of the exciting, innovative, and uncommon advancements happening in the region. . . . #lifesciences #greaterseattle #startups #biotech Life Science Washington
