Orlando International (MCO) and Executive Airports (ORL) are managed by the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, which is governed by a seven-member board; the mayor of the City of Orlando, the Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners, and five other members who are appointed by the Governor of the State of Florida, subject to confirmation by the senate. Orlando International Airport is operated by the Chief Executive Officer, who is appointed by the Authority, and his staff over 1,000 employees. We're proud to announce that the East Central Florida Regional Planning Council has awarded MCO's Terminal C with the East Central Florida Diamond Award for Excellence in Regional Prosperity. This award highlights the many resilience and conservation efforts made in developing Terminal C, complementing its modern, innovative design. GOAA's Vice President of Construction, Scott Shedek, and the Assistant Vice President of Environmental, Mary (Keegan) O’Brien, accepted the award on behalf of the organization. This week, we held a reception to commemorate our art exhibit, "Florida Celebrates the Tuskegee Airmen, the First African-American Military Pilots." This exhibition honors the achievements of the Tuskegee Airmen & celebrates Florida's inaugural Tuskegee Airmen Commemoration Day. We were honored to host Flight Officer Daniel Keel (a distinguished Tuskegee Airman, who was triple-rated as a pilot, bombardier, and navigator,) along with his family, and members of Central Florida Tuskegee Airmen chapters. Thank you to our guests who helped commemorate such a meaningful exhibit.
