After two years of dedicated planning, the?Dream Team?of Greater Naples Leadership brought?Immokalee Day?to life as an immersive, action-packed experience for our incoming class of 50. Five members orchestrated a day filled with powerful speakers and hands-on activities, offering deep insights into the challenges and opportunities in Immokalee. As the?tomato capital of the United States, this unique region of Collier County is home to a vibrant community from Mexico, Guatemala, Haiti, and Honduras. Yet, it faces complex issues surrounding?immigration, healthcare, education, working conditions, and mentorship. Fortunately, numerous nonprofits are making a difference, but they need more leadership and volunteers to amplify their impact. Not only did the day include traditional presentations, but it also highlighted the accomplishments of a dedicated ballet instructor in mentoring young children, a farmers’ market with just-picked vegetables, and inspiring words from the portrait artist of the Face of Immokalee campaign. #NaplesFL #CollierCounty #Immokalee #mentorship #volunteers
