WI’s largest community foundation. Our mission: Inspire #philanthropy, serve donors, strengthen communities.
关于我们
For more than a century, the Greater Milwaukee Foundation has helped individuals, families and organizations realize their philanthropic goals and make a difference in the community, during their lifetimes and for future generations. We are home to more than 1,500 individual charitable funds, each created by donors to serve the charitable causes of their choice. The Foundation deploys both human and financial resources to address the most critical needs of the community and ensure the vitality of the region. Started in 1915, the Foundation is one of the oldest and largest community foundations in the world.

From increased demand for services and decreased philanthropic resources to the departure of long-time executives and emergence of social media, the nonprofit sector has faced its share of challenges and change over the past 30 years. The Nonprofit Management Fund has been there every step of the way - providing capacity-building technical assistance grants to help small to mid size agencies throughout the four-county area. Earlier this month we celebrated its 30-year anniversary milestone at a special ceremony at American Family Field. Our thanks to the more than 18 funders who have invested more than $10M in the fund over the years and the four advisers - Patricia Wyzbinski, Scott Gelzer, Denise Patton and Eloiza Altoro - who have advised the fund and its grantmaking.

A field of interest fund allows donors to support the causes they are most passionate about – from arts and culture and education to racial equity and inclusion and more – the choice is theirs. They can rely on our staff’s expertise, which is based on data, community insights and greatest community needs, to select effective nonprofits working in those areas.

We could not think of a better way to celebrate National Philanthropy Day last Friday than to gather more than 300 local partners in philanthropy at our office. Our thanks to all of our nonprofit friends who showed up to meet with us and fellow grantmakers from The Burke Foundation, Zilber Family Foundation , Northwestern Mutual Foundation, JOHNSON CONTROLS FOUNDATION INC, Nonprofit Management Fund, Siebert Lutheran Foundation and United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County. In the words of one attendee: "The insights shared and the connections made will undoubtedly strengthen our community efforts."

Today, we salute the visionaries, problem-solvers, and trailblazers who drive our community forward with their creativity and determination. Entrepreneurs are the backbone of economic growth, creating opportunities and shaping the future. Earlier this year, we provided support to the Latino Chamber of Commerce of SEW so it could expand its ability to provide financial capital to small businesses. At the Greater Milwaukee Foundation, we are proud to support initiatives that foster innovation and empower local businesses to thrive. From startup dreams to sustainable growth, entrepreneurs play a vital role in building a stronger, more equitable Milwaukee. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gqHXxSk9
