MEET THE TEAM TUESDAY: Say hello to Carrie Scholz, director of community leadership! ??Here are some interesting facts about her: ??Carrie started at the Foundation in August 2024. ??She is from Pittsburgh. ??As the director of community leadership, Carrie listens to community needs related to the Foundation’s priority areas and develops responsive grantmaking strategies to begin to address those needs. ?? Carrie says she is inspired by the phenomenal nonprofits she gets to see in action while working at the Foundation. She is energized by the people who make the meaningful work possible. She also is excited by the opportunity to think about how we might support more nonprofit collaboration and braid more funding so the support may go further and deeper. ??Growing up, she wanted to be a nun or a flight attendant. ??Her first job was at a bagel shop when she was 15 and she loved it! Besides the delicious food, she enjoyed getting to know the regular customers. She’d pride herself in knowing what they planned to order and having it almost ready for them before they stepped up to the counter. ?? The most unusual or interesting job she's had was at Waste Management as a long-term temp during her breaks in college. She started as a fill-in for the receptionist and later worked for years in the accounting department. It was a great way to learn about EXCEL (and landfills).
