Kansas State University and Fort Riley remain major economic engines for the Greater Manhattan region. In 2023, Fort Riley’s economic impact analysis shows a total impact of $1.9 billion. K-State's recently completed economic impact analysis reported a $1.3 billion annual impact. We are always working toward increased private-sector job creation, but we never lose sight of the significant impacts these large public-sector employers have on our overall economic well-being. The startup ecosystem continues to be a priority in the Greater Manhattan region. In 2023, one of our key initiatives was the expansion of funding opportunities for startups, which is why we created the Elevate Fund. The Elevate Fund provides loans up to $15,000 to startups.
