I can’t think of a better way to wrap up the Week Without Driving in DC than hosting the founder of the campaign, Anna Zivarts, for a conversation about her book, When Driving is Not an Option: Steering Away from Car Dependency! Thanks to Smart Growth America and Island Press for partnering with us to make the event possible. The DC Transportation Equity Network, a program of Greater Greater Washington, coordinated public officials’ participation in the Week Without Driving to raise awareness about the challenges that the 36% of DC residents who don’t drive face when getting around. DC Councilmembers Brianne Nadeau, Matt Frumin, and Charles Allen; DDOT director Sharon Kershbaum; DFHV director Jonathan Rogers; WMATA board of directors members Dr. Tracy Haden Loh and Spring Worth; more than 28 Advisory Neighborhood Commissioners from all eight wards; and a dozen members of the public committed to the campaign this year. Thanks to everyone who participated and shared their experiences! #WeekWithoutDriving
It was a privilege to have the opportunity to meet author and advocate Anna Zivarts in person yesterday and hear her speak about her book “When Driving Is Not an Option.” Thanks to Smart Growth America and Greater Greater Washington for hosting this Week Without Driving event.
