  • This morning, we took an incredibly insightful tour of Friendship House as part of our Red Carpet Tour series. We met some wonderful kiddos, toured the facility, and learned about current challenges impacting the childcare center. When attending these tours, you get to see all of these things firsthand and leave inspired about how to get involved. Luckily, Friendship House has many opportunities to volunteer and become engaged in the work they do for our community! To learn more about Friendship House, visit friendshiphousekids.com We have ONE MORE Red Carpet Tour of the school year on Friday, April 11th at Tunnel Hill Elementary. If you want to see what all of the fun is about, don't miss your opportunity to get involved in our Red Carpet Tours before the summer. Registration is always free and live at daltonchamber.org today. #RedCarpetTour #GreaterDalton #FriendhshipHouse #DaltonGa

  • We had a wonderful time at last week's Economic Outlook Breakfast, presented by Builtwell Bank! Dr. Greg George, the Oliner Professor at Middle Georgia State University, presented us with some fascinating information about the country's economic climate. His entertaining insights on the financial state of Dalton and beyond showed us where to focus our attention and encouraged deep thought and discussion between attendees. Thank you to all who were able to attend! Save the date for the next event in our series: State of the Community, on April 17th. Tickets are live at daltonchamber.org now!

  • There's some pretty cool stuff taking place at the Convention Center this weekend, so don't miss out!! Did you know that Greater Dalton hosts the FIRST Robotics Competition every year, where schools across the entire state of Georgia compete against one another to show off their sweet engineering skills? We are so lucky to have community partners like Shaw Industries helping to make Greater Dalton the location for this competition to take place. Today kicked off the qualifying event, but the teams will be there all day tomorrow, and you HAVE to see it! If you have a young student at home needing some weekend entertainment (and maybe a little S.T.E.M. education), bring them to the Dalton Convention Center. It's completely FREE to enjoy this competition and support our local Fighting Mongooses and Catabots. Trust us, you'll be amazed at the talent in the room! #FIRSTRobotics #GreaterDalton

On Tuesday, March 4th, "Soccer Town USA" hosted young athletes and pro players at the "First Kick" event at the Mack Gaston Community Center. The excitement was undeniable as 100 local kids had the incredible opportunity to play alongside Atlanta United pros Luke Brennan and Noah Cobb, and Dalton's very own, Omar Hernandez. Watching their faces light up on the field made every bit of the planning worth it. The Mini Pitch was funded in part by a grant from the Atlanta United Community Fund through their GA 100 initiative which aims to build up to 100 mini pitches across the state to make the game of soccer more accessible for all aspiring young players in the awarded communities.? A huge thank you to the City of Dalton, Dalton Parks & Rec., the Northwest Georgia Regional Commission, Believe Greater Dalton, and the Greater Dalton Chamber for trusting me to bring this event to life. I’m also incredibly grateful to the Dalton State College Men’s and Women’s soccer teams for volunteering and making the event such a success. I couldn't have made it look effortless without them! This is what community impact looks like—creating spaces and opportunities for the next generation.
