There's some pretty cool stuff taking place at the Convention Center this weekend, so don't miss out!! Did you know that Greater Dalton hosts the FIRST Robotics Competition every year, where schools across the entire state of Georgia compete against one another to show off their sweet engineering skills? We are so lucky to have community partners like Shaw Industries helping to make Greater Dalton the location for this competition to take place. Today kicked off the qualifying event, but the teams will be there all day tomorrow, and you HAVE to see it! If you have a young student at home needing some weekend entertainment (and maybe a little S.T.E.M. education), bring them to the Dalton Convention Center. It's completely FREE to enjoy this competition and support our local Fighting Mongooses and Catabots. Trust us, you'll be amazed at the talent in the room! #FIRSTRobotics #GreaterDalton

We are thankful to have played a role in this opportunity for Greater Dalton through the Chamber Foundation and Believe Greater Dalton. Great job to Rosa Cuna and the Believe team. And thank you Dalton State College soccer team and Dalton Parks and Recreation! Collaboration is a powerful force for building community.
On Tuesday, March 4th, "Soccer Town USA" hosted young athletes and pro players at the "First Kick" event at the Mack Gaston Community Center. The excitement was undeniable as 100 local kids had the incredible opportunity to play alongside Atlanta United pros Luke Brennan and Noah Cobb, and Dalton's very own, Omar Hernandez. Watching their faces light up on the field made every bit of the planning worth it. The Mini Pitch was funded in part by a grant from the Atlanta United Community Fund through their GA 100 initiative which aims to build up to 100 mini pitches across the state to make the game of soccer more accessible for all aspiring young players in the awarded communities.? A huge thank you to the City of Dalton, Dalton Parks & Rec., the Northwest Georgia Regional Commission, Believe Greater Dalton, and the Greater Dalton Chamber for trusting me to bring this event to life. I’m also incredibly grateful to the Dalton State College Men’s and Women’s soccer teams for volunteering and making the event such a success. I couldn't have made it look effortless without them! This is what community impact looks like—creating spaces and opportunities for the next generation.
