Strategic priority 1's second goal centers our work-based learning opportunities for students. PACE is designed to offer students many chances each school year to engage with employers in experiences that excite them and expose them to new opportunities. These work- and career-based learning experiences can include apprenticeships, internships, job shadowing, summer jobs, job placements, and community service opportunities. Achieving goal 2 will require a collective reimagining of how the business, education, and non-profit sectors engage through “career education and readiness,” the development of a strategic approach to breaking down barriers, and identification of and commitment to new ways to meet everyone’s needs. The first goal in strategic priority 1 is focused on embedding PACE in-school activities and career advising into our participating school districts. School districts are students’ access point to all aspects of PACE. By the end of the 2024-2025 school year, PACE will have been implemented in 11 districts reaching nearly 40,000 students. Achieving goal 1 will require robust partnerships and seamless communication among all the organizations tasked with delivering the curriculum, providing career advising, and facilitating the work- and career-based learning experiences.
