A few weeks into my new job at Make-A-Wish Texas Gulf Coast and Louisiana, I heard about a unique wish that our team was working on for a little boy in Slaughter, LA who had wished for a backyard baseball field! Our construction partners at DDG reached out to our team asking for some additional resources and support. One quick phone call to Stephen Fertitta at GRI (Great River Industries) and Bryan Wesley at Wesley Construction and the ball was rolling to make sure this wish was granted! Last week, our community rolled out (in the pouring rain!) to host an Opening Day celebration for Jesse's wish! SO many incredible community members, construction partners and friends made this wish come to life. Huge thank you to Marucci Sports, Baton Rouge Rougarou, Stirling, Richard Price Contractors, Plank Dirt Road, Otwells Services, Kona Ice and SO many others for making Jesse's Opening Day extra special. It truly takes a community to make our wishes come true, and this wish was no exception - What an honor and joy it is to call this my job! If YOU want to be part of making wishes come true, let's get coffee! I would love to share more about the amazing things that Make-A-Wish is doing for children right here in our backyard!

Yesterday the GRI team had the opportunity to partner with the great folks at DDG and Make-A-Wish Texas Gulf Coast and Louisiana to make Jesse, a young 7yr old boys dream a reality. His wish was to have a baseball field in his backyard so that his teammates and friends could come to him and play!! Yesterday there was a lot of dirt work done and we set over 30 posts for the fence and backstop.
