Transforming invention to impact
关于我们
Our goal is to connect the entrepreneurial spirit of the Great Plains with the national technology ecosystem by training, expansion, and research evaluation. And, to develop the technical leaders of tomorrow by providing the skills, network, and entrepreneurial mindset needed to pursue their future path. The Great Plains I-Corps Hub partners with 8 universities in the region to cultivate entrepreneurship by providing educational programs designed to train researchers to extend their focus beyond the laboratory and accelerate the transfer of cutting-edge research into commercial success. The National Science Foundation Innovation Corps (I-Corps?) program is an immersive, entrepreneurial training program that facilitates the transformation of invention to impact. I-Corps prepares researchers to extend their focus beyond the laboratory to increase the economic and societal impact of NSF-funded and other basic research projects.

Last Friday, the Research Park had the privilege of hosting an NSF I-CORPS Pitch Event in partnership with South Dakota State University At this event, seven faculty members presented their work, outlining a problem they aim to address, their proposed solution, a product to support it, and the intellectual property status. Following the presentations, faculty returned to the stage for a Q&A session, engaging a diverse audience of 50 attendees—including investors, students, faculty, and influential community members with a keen interest in research. We are grateful for the opportunity to host such an inspiring and innovative event and look forward to many more. #Research #Innovation #PitchEvent #SDSU #ResearchParkatSDSU #ICORPS

NSF announced the addition of three new NSF Innovation Corps (NSF I-Corps?) Hubs — each funded up to $3 million per year for the next five years. The investment will provide experiential entrepreneurial training to researchers across all fields of science and engineering, accelerating the translation of discoveries into new solutions that benefit society and the economy. Each of the new NSF I-Corps Hubs comprises a regional alliance of at least eight universities. The teams are led by the University of California, Berkeley, Georgia Institute of Technology and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, respectively. "The goal of the I-Corps program is to deploy experiential education to help researchers reduce the time necessary to translate promising ideas from laboratory benches to widespread implementation that in turn impacts economic growth regionally and nationally," said Erwin Gianchandani, assistant director for Technology, Innovation and Partnerships. "Each regional NSF I-Corps Hub provides training essential in entrepreneurship and customer discovery, leading to new products, startups and jobs. In effect, we are investing in the next generation of entrepreneurs for our nation." Learn more: https://bit.ly/3UEA92N

Excited to share my journey with the National NSF I-Corps training program! Engaging with professionals in the carbon project sector has significantly enriched my project’s development. I’m thrilled to announce my work titled "Monitoring the Spatial Distribution of Cover Crops and Tillage Practices Using Machine Learning and Environmental Drivers across Eastern South Dakota" has been published in Environment Management Journal. A heartfelt thank you to my mentors and labmates—Ranjeet John, Meghann Jarchow, Nathan T., Abhinav Chandel, Venkatesh Kolluru, and Sakshi Saraf—for your invaluable support and guidance throughout this process. Your insights have been instrumental in shaping my research!
USD researchers are using satellite data and machine learning to help farmers track sustainable practices like cover crops and conservation tillage, improving soil health and reducing emissions. ???? Read how this technology could shape the future of climate-smart farming ?? https://yote.us/3BwMzDe
