In conjunction of the approaching joyous celebration of Aidilfitri, Great Eastern Takaful organised the Great Ramadan Programme 2025, bringing smiles to nearly 100 orphans and underprivileged children from Pusat Jagaan Kasih Murni and Rumah Kasih Nurul Hasanah. A total of 33 GETB volunteers joined the meaningful effort, accompanying the children for a special Raya shopping experience at Mydin Hypermarket, ensuring they celebrate the festive with new Raya attire. This marks the third year Great Eastern Takaful has organised this initiative, which aims to bring happiness and excitement to oprhans and underpriviliged children as they prepare for Aidilfitri. On the same day, Great Eastern Takaful also hosted a Grand Iftar, where we were honoured to share the evening with 50 young cancer survivors from the Kumpulan Ibu Bapa dan Sokongan Anak-anak Kanser (KIDS). The heartwarming gathering fostered bonds of togetherness and brought a sense of hope to those in need. At Great Eastern Takaful, we remain committed to cultivating a culture of compassion and social responsibility. Even the smallest acts of kindness can create a profound impact. Great Eastern Takaful had the opportunity to support our frontliners during this blessed month of Ramadan through the GET-Sahur Programme 2025. In collaboration with GETB Groovy Club, a total of 100 sahur meal packs were distributed to five designated locations, including Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL), Institut Jantung Negara (IJN), Balai Bomba Keramat, IPD Wangsa Maju, and IPD Dang Wangi. The GET-Sahur Programme 2025 also serves as a gesture of appreciation towards the unwavering dedication of our frontliners, who continue to serve tirelessly during this holy month. We hope this small contribution brings them joy as they share the moment of sahur with their colleagues. Great Eastern Takaful deeply values our frontliners’ commitment and sacrifices. Kudos to Daughters Of Tomorrow (DOT) for organising Living On The Edge workshop on 22 March to raise greater awareness of DOT’s work as well as instill stronger empathy among corporate partners! By letting us experience what life is like in the shoes of DOT women and families, you are staying true to the International Women’s Day 2025 #AccelerateAction theme! Participants were assigned a persona from a low-income community and grouped into family units. Volunteers role-played as the people that the personas would meet in everyday situations, who could be a teacher in school, a frontline staff at the employment agency or a support staff from a social service agency. The various scenarios thrown to the participants and volunteers were based on real life encounters and the daily decision-making processes that multi-stressed, low-income families undergo. At the post-activity reflection circle, the workshop facilitator encouraged the attendees to think about how to work together with the vulnerable and disadvantaged, with a strong emphasis on ‘with’. “These people are just like you and I- most of them want to preserve their dignity and do not want free handouts.” Great Eastern is grateful to have our employees and financial representatives joined this poverty sensitisation session as participants and volunteers. Big thank you to Community Chest Singapore for organising Habuan Harapan (the gift of hope) and Fú Dài 福袋 (happiness bags) so that Great Eastern can give back to the community through these annual signature events as a collective with other corporate partners in Singapore. Our enthusiastic volunteer packers and delivery teams certainly bonded over the process! For Habuan Harapan, 24 employees were part of the 600-strong team that packed and distributed 7,000 Ramadan goodie bags. Filled to the brim with household items and green packets, these bags were delivered to families in need across 27 constituencies for festive preparations leading up to Hari Raya. For Fú Dài, 35 employees joined over 1,300 volunteers to pack and deliver over 9,000 bags of blessings to seniors and lower-income families for Lunar New Year. The bags carried essential and festive items such as rice, cooking oil, cookies and canned fruit. Our GREAT EASTERN colleagues celebrated International Women’s Day to #AccelerateAction this March! We hosted a series of virtual activities, with over 240 attendees joining from Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia. We had a truly insightful Great Eastern Fireside Chat moderated by John Dave N. with our panel of female colleagues; Miiki Hoe, Nelly Gunawan, Lilik Sulistyawati, Nur Tessa Kisham and Saleha Aisyah M.. They came together to talk about the challenges and advantages of working in a multi-generational team. Through an interactive mentorship webinar, we invited Angel Kilian as our speaker, who provided fresh perspectives on mentorship and reverse mentorship, and how we can encourage mutual learning that can benefit both mentors and mentees. The importance of mentorship was a key theme throughout these events. Many key takeaways focused on how multi-generational collaboration can foster growth, development, and better communication within teams. We also explored how reverse mentorship can provide fresh perspectives and encourage mutual learning, benefiting both mentors and mentees. In the spirit of recognition, colleagues were also encouraged to show their appreciation for female colleagues who represent #OurHERoes at the workplace, garnering 130 exchanges of heartfelt messages via our employee recognition platform! Great Eastern Life Indonesia (GELI) welcomed the holy month of Ramadan on 7 March 2025 to celebrate achievements and strategise for year ahead. The event fostered employee connection, self-reflection and the sharing of key updates from management. Employees were enriched with a Qur’an recitation and a tausiah session, serving as a reminder to embrace Ramadan with patience and sincerity. We ended the evening with iftar, meaningful conversations, and Maghrib prayers—strengthening our purpose and unity. Last month, Great Eastern Singapore came together for our first Town Hall of 2025 - a timely opportunity for us to reflect on our collective achievements and align on our priorities as we look ahead. The highlight of the Townhall was an ‘Ask Us Anything’ segment, where we put our newest Great Eastern leaders in the hot seat. Group CEO Greg Hingston, MD, Group Premier Wealth, Clement Lien, and MD, Group IT, Gary Goh candidly responded to burning questions from the floor, and it was a truly engaging session! In addition, Group CEO shared on the financial results and highlighted the strategic areas we need to focus on to excel in 2025. The unveiling of our SG60 brand campaign and an array of upcoming customer-centric programmes were also introduced, sparking much excitement and anticipation. Moving on to the Sustainability agenda, we reaffirmed our goal of achieving Net Zero by 2050 as an organisation, and outlined the interim targets that will support this long-term objective. We also delved into the results of our 2024 Culture and Engagement survey, identifying areas where we have done well and should maintain our efforts. Attendees left the Town Hall with valuable insights and enjoyed financiers as a sweet treat. The mySalam Tour: Ramadan Edition! under Great Eastern Takaful, has officially begun at Menara Great Eastern, launching an initiative aimed at supporting those in need, especially the B40 community. Ramadan is a time for gratitude and kindness, and this effort brings those values to life. Congratulations to our general insurance colleagues in Indonesia on being awarded the Best Women Empowerment Company 2025! Earlier in February, Great Eastern General Insurance (GEGI) received the award from HerStory (a member of Warta Ekonomi) at the Indonesia Best Women Empowerment Companies Awards 2025. Marketing Director, Ibu Cong Chun Ling, reaffirmed GEGI’s commitment to women empowerment, emphasising that "Gender equality is our shared responsibility." Nearly half of GEGI’s employees are women, with a significant number holding managerial positions.
