Rest in peace to Dame Maggie Smith, who has passed away at the age of 89. After a diagnosis of Graves' disease (this article incorrectly uses Grave's), Smith went on to tackle some of her most iconic performances, including roles in "Downton Abbey" and the "Harry Potter" franchise. There are other articles that go in to more depth on Smith's life and career, but this piece from Today includes an interesting detail: Smith's diagnosis came shortly after she fractured her arm and shoulder in a bike accident.
