At Grassroots Grocery, I see it every day. A volunteer staying late at the Produce Party to make sure every last supply is put away. A donor quietly covering our overhead so we can keep growing. A driver making an extra stop because one more community needs help. We did a thing today. 2 months ago we lost our food pantry to another community. I reached out to Grassroots Grocery Daniel Zauderer. They said we got you!!!! Coming home feels different when you see just how much a place has shaped you. Just a few years ago, I was a middle school teacher in the Bronx with an idea and no clue if it would take off. The first place I turned to for support was my hometown of Larchmont. Would families show up? Would volunteers take the leap? Would neighbors see the vision? They did. And that support didn’t just help us get started—it shaped what Grassroots Grocery has become today. Moving back to Larchmont has been a full-circle moment in every sense. And in the way only this community can, Larchmont is showing up once again—this Saturday, Atelier Modern is donating 10% of their proceeds to Grassroots Grocery as part of their anniversary celebration. I’ll be there from 1-3pm, and I’d love to see some familiar faces. More than anything, I feel grateful. Grateful for the places that shape us. Grateful for the people who lift up ideas bigger than ourselves. Grateful for the communities that remind us why we do this work in the first place. On Thursday, January 23, the newly unified Saks Global team rallied together for a cause, assembling 2,701 sunbutter & jelly sandwiches for 16 community partners across NYC! Huge shoutout to: Emily Essner, President & Chief Commercial Officer, for kicking things off and rallying the troops! Cristina Sands, Specialist, Impact Initiatives & Saks Fifth Avenue Foundation, for making this event happen! Jordan Motzkin, Chief Operating & Technology Officer at Grassroots Grocery, for hosting! This event was part of Saks Global's commitment to community impact through Saks Serves, Saks Fifth Avenue's employee volunteer program and All Heart, Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman’s giving and volunteering program. Exciting news—Dilani and I are officially Larchmont residents! I never thought I’d move back to my hometown, but what changed my mind? Seeing the generosity of this community come alive. Through Grassroots Grocery, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside incredible people and organizations who truly embody the power of neighbors helping neighbors. Whether it’s families volunteering together at a Produce Party or local businesses stepping up to make a tangible impact, this community gets it. Had an awesome weekend supporting our NYC communities with Grassroots Grocery! We rescued and packed over 10,000 pounds of fresh produce from Hunts Point Produce Market to share with families in the Bronx and Harlem. Love being part of a team that gets together with our families on a Saturday to give back and make a difference - Go Gilbane New York-New Jersey!

Week after week, Grassroots Grocery moves thousands of pounds of fresh produce into the hands of families who need it most. The scale and efficiency of this work simply wouldn’t be possible without our volunteers—and this past Saturday, we had an exciting guest! We were thrilled to welcome?Patina Miller, award-winning actress, singer, and star of Starz hit show?Raising Kanan, whose?new season premieres Friday, March 7th! It was wonderful to have her join us and see firsthand the impact of our work in upper Manhattan and the Bronx. I also want to highlight one of our most dedicated volunteers Ardis Carlos! Ardis first joined us through our?Produce Parties with JPMorganChase, and her passion for our mission has led her to engage her entire network—from the?Bronx chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc.?to?her daughter’s Girl Scout troop, and even celebrating her birthday by giving back through a Produce Party—we are incredibly grateful for her commitment and the many ways she continues to support our work. Access to fresh, healthy food should never be a privilege. That's why I'm extremely grateful to Stop & Shop for their commitment to expanding food access in New York City. Last Wednesday, the team presented Grassroots Grocery with a $40,000 grant to support our work bringing fresh produce directly to students and families through schools in the Bronx. As a former middle school teacher in the Bronx, I saw firsthand how food insecurity affects students—not just in terms of hunger, but in their ability to focus, learn, and thrive. Schools are a cornerstone of community, and when we bring fresh food directly to families where they already are, we’re breaking down barriers to access in a way that’s simple, dignified, and effective. This work wouldn’t be possible without incredible partners who share this vision: ??
