After three decades-plus honing my skills as the design and layout person for a weekly African American newspaper in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, I decided to put what I've learned and studied to the ultimate test: starting 'Graphics By Quiet Lion,' my own graphic design company focusing on: * Graphic Quotations * Brochures * Flyers * Logos My approach to graphic design is unorthodox and unfettered by traditional design dictums. In case you were wondering, my 'business,' Graphics By Quiet Lion does still exist. It's just that I've been busy with professional and personal challenges to keep up with it and make news posts of things I've done graphically that would draw interest in my services. I've been thinking of making some changes and being more active with the site. The way things are looking as it relates to the nation and what the 'president' is doing (and will be doing), it will take imagination and perseverance to make my 'pivot' a reality. But God is able. With His guidance, I'll figure it out!

What you #see below is how I handle--#graphically--the #reporting of election results. Instead of #writing an #article on who won and who lost (with maybe three or four #photos of some of the winners or losers--as I used to do), I #show the reader ALL the winners (and this year, the losers); how their office, the area they represent, the number of votes he or she received and the percentage of total votes. I'm of the #belief that regular and non-regular #readers don't want to read an article, but only want to know and see who #won and #lost and by how much. Another reason, our paper is a weekly and we hit the streets on Thursday I've been using this #approach for a number of years. I haven't received any #complaints, from readers or within the MCJ itself (staff and management).
