Action Alert: Tell your representative to oppose H.R.9495 Grants Plus is monitoring a concerning legislation -- Section 4 in H.R.9495 -- for nonprofits that would provide the executive branch with expansive new authority?to terminate the tax-exempt status of nonprofits by designating an organization as “terrorist supporting.” This designation would be at the Secretary’s discretion, without requiring the Secretary to share their full evidence or reasoning with accused nonprofits. While we fully support efforts to combat terrorism and prevent misuse of nonprofit structures, this legislation risks harming legitimate, law-abiding nonprofit organizations. Grants Plus stands with the Council on Foundations, Independent Sector, National Council of Nonprofits, and United Philanthropy Forum in opposition to this bill.
