On January 13th, Grant PUD hosted two valuable meetings at the Grant County Fairgrounds—our 3rd annual Agriculture Customer Meeting and our first-ever New Construction Workshop. The Ag meeting focused on key topics such as rates, customer experience, power quality, conservation, and rebate opportunities. Meanwhile, the New Construction Workshop covered service connections, engineering, fees, inspections, and temporary services. Both groups also heard a "State of the PUD" presentation from CCO Ty Ehrman, highlighting 2025 goals, county growth, rates, and future generation plans. Attendees provided feedback on the sessions, helping us ensure these meetings remain valuable and relevant. One attendee summed it up best: "Thank you for affordable and reliable service. Also, your support is as good as it gets!" We appreciate everyone who took time out of their busy schedules to engage with us and strengthen our working relationships. Grant PUD Commissioners have officially accepted the resignation of GM/CEO Rich Wallen, effective March 31. While Rich’s departure is a significant change, we understand his decision to move closer to family—a value we share at Grant PUD, where we often consider each other more like family than coworkers. During his tenure, Rich championed a culture of teamwork, service, and innovation that continues to drive us forward. “We can’t adequately express our appreciation to Rich for his service, success and dedication to Grant County PUD employees and customers. He is leaving us better than he found us,” said Commission President Terry Pyle. Commissioner Tom Flint added, “With your leadership, it’s been one of the best times to be a commissioner at Grant, and I give you credit for that.” We will miss Rich’s leadership, but we celebrate his new opportunity and remain committed to supporting our employees and customers through this transition. Great news from our hydro operations! In Q4 2024, we had virtually zero forced downtime at Priest Rapids and Wanapum dams—Much better than our performance targets. Although one Wanapum Dam unit’s planned maintenance ran slightly longer than expected, these proactive measures keep our systems running smoothly. Looking ahead, we’re gearing up for major overhauls on Unit PO8 at Priest Rapids Dam and Unit WO7 at Wanapum Dam in March. These projects will help ensure reliability and efficiency for the long term. Proud of our team’s dedication to delivering clean, reliable energy to our communities!
