关于我们

The CoLab is a hub for ideation (generating new ideas). It is designed to connect our innovators and entrepreneurs to resources, education, and networking opportunities throughout the Roanoke region. CoLab provides classroom space, conference space, and office space through a daily, hourly, or monthly membership. Our events calendar includes many workshops and educational seminars geared towards small businesses and startups. The 10,000 sq. ft. space is fit for various networking events, Meetups, company gatherings, board meetings, holiday parties, and other special events. Membership at CoLab is: “...an amazing resource for entrepreneurs. Every day I find new opportunities that arise from interactions with other CoLabers, and they are always happy to share ideas, and lend expertise. So glad we have this here in Roanoke!” - Phil Tompkins, CEO We Evolve Us "...is rapidly rising to the forefront of our community’s progressive movement, and is managed, leased-by, and visited by a growing number of entrepreneurs, movers and shakers, and change agents that are at the forefront of Roanoke’s positive growth curve. Whether you are a neighbor, a member, or a visitor, you will always find the most stimulating individuals and ideas being hatched, shared, or manifested inside the CoLab’s walls." - Ian Fortier, Grandin Theatre Foundation "I would highly recommend the CoLab to anyone who needs a quiet, easy-to-use space for their business. I had a short-term project that required a significant time commitment, and was desperate to get away from my in-home office. The CoLab offered a perfect solution. The facilities and amenities are top-notch, and the process to sign up for the monthly membership was incredibly easy. Most importantly, the Colab community was welcoming and helpful from the very beginning. Whether its a short-term membership like mine, or a long-term option for a growing business, I can't say enough good things about the CoLab!" - Brett Rector

Numbers alone never built a great team— Here's what's missing: OKRs, KPIs, and CFRs aren’t the same - But leaders need all three to succeed. Each one plays a different role - And missing even one can hold teams back. ?? OKRs drive focus and alignment. ? They answer: What big goals are we chasing? ?? KPIs track performance and results. ? They answer: How are we doing on key priorities? ?? CFRs build trust and engagement. ? They answer: How are we staying connected as a team? When leaders only focus on goals - Teams lose the human connection. When leaders only focus on performance - Teams lose sight of the big picture. When leaders only focus on feedback - Teams drift without clear direction. Top leaders use all three: ? OKRs for clear goals ? KPIs for tracking progress ? CFRs for open conversations Because leadership isn’t just about hitting numbers - It’s about helping people do great work, And making sure they know they matter. How to say NO: (without guilt) Saying yes to everything drains your time and energy. But saying no is hard. The key? Set clear boundaries—without burning bridges. Here’s how to say no the right way: 1/ Assess the Request ? Does it align with your priorities? ? If not, it’s okay to decline. 2/ Be Honest and Direct ? No need for excuses. ? A clear, polite no is enough. 3/ Offer an Alternative ? Suggest another time. ? Recommend someone else who might help. 4/ Set Boundaries ? Define your limits upfront. ? Avoid overcommitting to things you can’t sustain. 5/ Prioritize Your Time ? If it doesn’t fit your goals, let it go. ? Protect your time for high-value work. 6/ Practice Empathy ? Show you understand their needs. ? Decline with kindness, not guilt. 7/ Stay Professional ? Keep it respectful and polite. ? No is not a rejection of the person. 8/ Use “I” Statements ? "I don’t have the capacity right now." ? Avoid blaming or sounding defensive. 9/ Rehearse Your Response ? Practice saying no in different scenarios. ? The more you do it, the easier it gets. 10/ Know Your Priorities ? Ensure the request aligns with your key goals. ? If not, say no without hesitation. 11/ Stay Consistent ? Don’t say yes out of habit. ? Enforce your boundaries with confidence. 12/ Take Care of Yourself ? Protect your energy and mental space. ? Saying no is part of maintaining balance. Saying no doesn’t make you difficult. It makes you intentional. What’s the hardest thing to say no to? --- ?? Repost to help someone set better boundaries. ? Follow Lukas Stangl for more. ?? Hope is not a strategy - Clarity is: Think you can wing it without a strategy? Think again. Success doesn’t happen by accident— It’s the result of a solid strategy. But too many strategies fail because: ? They lack clarity ? Teams aren’t aligned ? Progress isn’t tracked Use my roadmap to create strategy that works: Set the foundation ? Identify strengths, gaps, and risks. ? Set clear, measurable, and realistic goals. Build a strategy that lasts ? Choose a plan that fits your resources. ? Make sure everyone understands their role. Get the team aligned ? Explain the why, not just the how. ? Build teams that execute and adapt. Prepare for obstacles ? Spot problems before they slow progress. ? Put systems in place to stay on track. Execute with focus ? Follow clear steps with accountability. ? Track progress to ensure results. Adapt and improve ? Review what works and adjust fast. ? Refine processes to stay consistent. Strengthen leadership and growth ? Develop leaders who carry the strategy forward. ? Keep knowledge and progress intact. A strong strategy isn’t about doing more. It’s about doing what matters— At the right time, with the right people. Please repost to help others out there! ?? ?? See how top leaders use AI to Master this: ? Your success, my mission | 3x founder & CEO | Former CIO $4B company | DEIB ally | Sharing 24 years of hard-earned leadership & self-mastery wisdom

The most powerful leadership tool costs $0. (And you already have it.) Kindness. Most people think success comes from being tough. From pushing harder. From demanding more. But here's what the research shows: Teams led with kindness are... ? 70% more engaged ? 40% more resilient ? 21% more productive?? ? 4x more likely to stay Because kindness isn't weak. It's a strength multiplier. It transforms average teams into exceptional ones. Think about it: When someone shows you kindness at work, you feel seen. Valued. Ready to give your best. That's why great leaders practice these daily: ? They ask real questions, not just "how are you?" ? They defend people who aren't in the room ? They celebrate others' wins like their own ? They respect boundaries and off-hours ? They lead with empathy, not authority ? They offer help before being asked ? They include the quiet voices ? They share knowledge freely ? They give credit generously The truth? Leadership isn't about power. It's about impact. And nothing impacts people more than genuine kindness. Make kindness your competitive advantage. Your team will thank you. Your results will show it. Your legacy will prove it. Want to transform your workplace? Start with kindness. The rest will follow. P.S. How do you show kindness at work? ?? Repost if this resonates with you. ?? Follow Justin Wright for more on leadership. Want PDFs of this and my 80 best cheat sheets? Get them here for free: https://lnkd.in/ehPh7tVp

Working from home doesn’t have to mean living at work. Remote work gives us flexibility, but it’s easy to slip into long hours, constant pings, and blurred boundaries. The good news? With the right habits and tools, you can stay productive without burnout. Thanks to a recent course, I now have a top five list of simple ways to make remote work, work for you: ? Establish a Routine – Start and end your day consistently. A structured schedule helps maintain focus and prevents burnout. ? Prioritize Communication – Over-communicate when necessary. Clear, proactive messaging keeps teams aligned and reduces misunderstandings. ? Create a Dedicated Workspace – Having a separate, distraction-free zone boosts efficiency and reinforces work-life boundaries. ? Leverage Technology – Use project management tools, video calls, and chat platforms to stay engaged and connected with your team. ? Set Boundaries – Just because you're home doesn’t mean you should always be "on." Respect your working hours to maintain balance. ? Stay Visible – Engage in team discussions, contribute ideas, and participate in virtual meetings to maintain your professional presence. Remote work isn’t just about location—it’s about optimizing how we work. What strategies have helped you succeed in a remote setting? What am I missing? #RemoteWork #Productivity #WorkFromHome #CareerSuccess

    What is your confidence?

8 Types of Confidence: (And How to Build them) I used to think confidence was simple. Just one dimensional. You either had it, or you didn't. But over a decade in business, I've learned there are actually 8 distinct types, And each one needs to be built separately. Just because you have one, doesn’t mean you have all of them: 1/ Decision Confidence ? Trust in your judgment under pressure ? Built through learning from both wins and failures 2/ Comeback Confidence ? Bouncing back from setbacks ? The "quiet confidence" that experience builds 3/ Learning Confidence ? Being comfortable not knowing ? The confidence to say "I don't know, but I'll figure it out" 4/ Values-Based Confidence ? Knowing what you stand for ? The courage to maintain boundaries 5/ Competence-Based Confidence ? Comes from mastering skills and knowing your stuff ? The most reliable but slowest to build 6/ Social Confidence ? Ability to navigate relationships and networking ? Often mistaken for extroversion (it's not) 7/ Body Language Confidence ? How you carry yourself ? The confidence others can see 8/ Situational Confidence ? Mastery of specific environments or contexts ? Knowing exactly when you're in your element Most people rely only on competence and social confidence. But here's the truth: The most successful leaders I know have intentionally developed all 8 types, And know exactly when they're needed. Which of these 8 types feels strongest for you right now?
