关于我们
Grand St. Settlement connects New Yorkers with opportunities that inspire, services that keep families strong and programs that bring communities closer. We've been inviting New Yorkers to join us in building the communities we need for a century; when we opened our doors in 1916 we served the Lower East Side, but today we connect more than 17,500 New Yorkers throughout the Lower East Side, Brooklyn, and the Bronx. Our Community Centers, partner schools and Child & Family Centers are vibrant and safe, creating a home away from home that reflects the cultures and wisdom of the communities' experiences.

Here at Grand Street, we’re starting #ImpactFridays, where we will showcase the vital work our programs do in the community. This week, we’re spotlighting how Grand Street celebrated Women’s History Month across a few of our sites: · In collaboration with the Department of Youth and Community Development, our afterschool program at 80 Pitt St. hosted the Young Women's Leadership Development Initiative Event. This initiative is dedicated to empowering and inspiring the next generation of young women through fostering leadership, confidence, and community. The event featured an engaging panel discussion, raffles, and keynote speakers, including Councilmember Carlina Rivera. · The Stockton School’s first floor hallway transformed into a gallery walk through time showcasing the women of P.S.297. The gallery featured elementary school photos of staff and faculty and an encouraging letter they each wrote to their younger selves, which students have been able to read and connect to this month. · Baruch Elder Services Team NORC celebrated Women's History Month by honoring resilience, love, and the contributions of women (who make up 70% of our senior participants). Baruch community participants joined seniors for a lively concert featuring live music from the talented musicians from Concerts in Motion. Assemblymember Harvey Epstein and Councilmember Carlina Rivera were also in attendance, showing their support for the women in our community!

Deputy Director of Government and Community Relations Aaron Sanders visited PS 297 to speak with students about the importance of being involved in the civic process. From voting to serving on community boards to working alongside city council members to advocate for important issues, Aaron showed our students small and big ways they can make a difference.

Our incredible team of managers met last week at our Williamsburg Community Center to discuss priorities, strategies, and updates for Grand St. Settlement. We're grateful to have a dedicated team leading us into a new era of Grand Street as we strengthen and expand to provide essential services to our communities. A special thanks to our partners at Chinese-American Planning Council for sharing strategies with our managers on how they can support immigrant communities and at BTQ Financial for sharing insights on new systems and budget processes for the upcoming fiscal year.

Inducted into the Women in Human Services Hall of Fame in 2019, Willing has served her community for over 25 years, empowering them to embrace life-long learning and advocating for low-income seniors, children, and families. For the last two decades at Grand St. Settlement, Willing has been instrumental in the development of Grand Street Senior Housing and our Head Start expansion, which now serves 800 more children in the Bronx and Brooklyn, bringing our total childcare enrollment to more than 1,4000 throughout NYC.
