Working with Jen Allen-Knuth of DemandJen at our Sales Kick-off in Tampa last month was a pleasure. In Jen's "Winning with the Whales” workshop, our team got inspired and learned new techniques for getting our AI solutions into the hands of more insurers. Thanks, Jen!
Founder, DemandJen | Stop Losing Pipeline to Buyer Status Quo | Keynote Speaker + Sales Trainer for GTM Teams Selling Into Enterprise & Mid-Market
Yesterday, I spent the day in Tampa with the team at Gradient AI for their SKO for a workshop on Winning the Whales (large enterprise new logo & expansion deals). At the start of the workshop, we go around the room and share a pipeline opp that ghosted us. Each person answers 3 Qs about the deal: 1 - When did they ghost us? (at what point in the sales process) 2 - What was the last thing THEY said to us? 3 - Why do you think it happened? I do this for two reasons: 1 - To gauge the team's beliefs and assumptions re: why they lose to buyer status quo. I'm listening for whether the team is pointing the finger elsewhere (product, price, etc.), or whether they're thinking critically about their own actions. 2 - To set the tone that learning from our losses is the best teacher. So, we have to talk about them. Because no one is a "Sales expert" (myself included) and there is no place for ego in Sales. What I loved most about working with this crew is that they came out of the gates with humility, introspection, and a hunger to learn. It wasn't just the Sales team. It was the CMO, the CFO, the Chief Product Officer, CSMs, and Solution Engineers. Everyone worked together to build status-quo busting POVs on the target accounts the sellers chose for the workshop. And, we had fun. Sales training doesn't have to suck. It doesn't have to be a snooze. But, a big part of that has to do with the team on the receiving end of it. A massive thank you to this team for a fun day yesterday. Especially Julie Neil, Chase Pettus, and Anthony Tuffile. Can't wait to watch ya'll break new records this year!
