  • We were so pleased to welcome author Michelle Icard to Memphis and GSL today. The author of Fourteen Talks by Age Fourteen and other parenting books, Michelle shared wonderful presentations today with lots of real-life anecdotes and relatable, helpful advice on how to keep the communication lines open as children move into adolescence. We learned a lot about what we can do as parents (and faculty members) to help guide children through middle school, to set them on pathways to success and resilience in high school, college, and beyond!

  • English Teacher Sarah Hunter Simanson and many of our sixth graders gathered @novelmemphis this weekend for the chance to meet bestselling author James Ponti (pictured at back). Ponti is the author of several middle grade book series, including the popular City Spies. Students heard him speak and were able to get books signed. Exciting opportunity for these enthusiastic readers! #GSLClassof2027

  • GSL alumna Adele Fish '11 is the writer and director of The Cold Fusion Play, a devised piece that explores polarized discourse through the erroneous discovery of cold fusion. The plot takes place on election night, when a group of theatre students rehearse scenes from a play called The Cold Fusion Fiasco (a play written earlier by Fish). The project intentionally leaves unwritten space in its formatting to encourage the cast’s customization of the devised piece with their own personal strengths and unique perspectives. Fish collaborated on the play with Middle School Performing Arts Teacher Leslie Reddick, and Simone Guyton ’21 is serving as stage manager. The production is scheduled to be on stage April 4, 5, & 6 at Voices of the South Theater, which is in the basement of First Congregational Church on Cooper Street. Congratulations, Adele!
