Thanks to Salud America and to Catherine Wilson for helping us tell Olivia's story! “[Grace After Fire] has empowered me to believe that I shouldn’t be ashamed of my story,” she said. “I have a sisterhood with women that I didn’t have many times with my sisters serving alongside me.” Watch her interview here! https://lnkd.in/gXqYwUte

Today, 09/22 is American Businesswoman Day. We'd like to honor the remarkable achievements of women in business. Among these trailblazers are veteran businesswomen who have served our country and significantly contributed to the U.S. economy. ◆The Impact of Veteran-Owned Businesses As of 2024, there are over 2 million veteran-owned businesses in the U.S., contributing approximately $1.2 trillion in annual sales. These businesses span various sectors, including professional services, construction, healthcare, and retail trade. ◆Veteran Businesswomen Leading the Way Veteran businesswomen are leading in many industries, bringing their unique skills and experiences to the forefront. Their leadership and resilience, honed through military service, have translated into successful business ventures that create jobs and drive economic growth. ◆Trailblazers One notable trailblazer is #PeggyWhitson, a distinguished astronaut and veteran. She holds the record for the most cumulative days spent in space by any American astronaut, with a total of 665 days. Whitson has commanded the #InternationalSpaceStation (#ISS) twice, making her the first woman to do so. Her leadership and dedication have made her an inspiring figure for many aspiring veteran businesswomen. ◆Challenges and Triumphs Despite their successes, veteran businesswomen often face unique challenges, including access to capital and navigating the transition from military to civilian life. However, their determination and the support of veteran-focused programs have enabled many to overcome these obstacles and thrive. As we celebrate American Businesswoman Day, let us recognize and honor the incredible contributions of veteran businesswomen. Their service to our country and their entrepreneurial spirit are driving forces behind a thriving and diverse economy. By supporting veteran-owned businesses, we not only acknowledge their sacrifices but also invest in a prosperous future for all. Grace After Fire empowers women veterans by connecting them with the resources and tools they need to be productive citizens in their communities, workplaces, and homes after transitioning from the military. Grace After Fire thanks all our partners and community leaders for your support to all Women Veterans!
