We provide a range of services to help our clients comply with federal and state environmental laws, and to successfully achieve project approval and implementation. GPA’s expertise includes managing the environmental process and completing CEQA and NEPA documentation, technical analysis, peer-reviewing environmental documents, regulatory permitting, agency coordination, and construction and mitigation monitoring. GPA has received CEQA/NEPA documentation and permitting approval for over 75 bridge, roadway/conventional highway, interchange, intersection, and bicycle and pedestrian facilities projects. GPA views every project as an opportunity to build long-lasting, meaningful working relationships with our clients. We excel in maintaining a clear line of communication with our clients, stakeholders, agencies, decision-makers, and project team members to ensure projects are on budget and on schedule. Caltrans District 11 has awarded the Coronado Bay Bridge Suicide Deterrent Project to the Myers-Traylor Joint Venture in partnership with COWI+TYLin. GPA Consulting is pleased to join this team, assisting with biological resources and historic preservation planning services. This $127.8 million project—the first Progressive Design-Build procured and awarded in California—addresses a pressing public health crisis, as the Coronado Bay Bridge has the second-highest number of suicides among bridges in the United States. Approximately 400 lives have been lost since its opening in 1969. The project will involve constructing a vertical?8- to 10-foot-tall stainless-steel deterrent fence on both sides of the 2.18-mile-long structure. Additionally, superstructure bays beneath the bridge deck will be enclosed to facilitate future maintenance and inspections.
