Our mission is to assemble and educate a diverse group of individuals, businesses and organizations to improve the Gowanus waterfront in Brooklyn and foster awareness of issues affecting New York- New Jersey harbor. The Gowanus Dredgers Canoe Club intends to contribute to transforming a dilapidated, historically significant estuary into a self-sustaining, environmentally friendly and healthy waterfront to be enjoyed and treasured by current and future generations. By encouraging waterfront activity and stewardship of the waterway, we reconnect the community with their shoreline. Renewing this relationship strengthens the desire for remediation of our harbor.

Have you heard of a TAGA Bus? It's a mobile lab Trace Atmospheric Gas Analyzer and there are only a few in the country. This coming Monday, February 10th YOU can see it in person! Get a behind-the-scenes peek inside the “science lab on a bus” that’s helping keep an eye on what’s in the air in Gowanus! EPA scientists, educators, and other community members will be on hand to answer questions about the ongoing cleanup of the Gowanus Canal, how the EPA is helping monitor the neighborhood for air quality issues during construction, and what you can do to stay safe and informed. The?Trace Atmospheric Gas Analyzer (TAGA)?bus will be located at BUTLER & NEVINS ST, with community conversations held at Evalyn’s Tap House (236 Butler) from 6-8pm.
