This week United Way of Central Ohio hosted Ohio Senators Hearcel Craig, Bill DeMora, and Michele Reynolds at the Community Impact Center. The Senators spoke with individuals from the many nonprofits that are located in the Community Impact Center about issues related to chronic absenteeism, literacy, stable housing, and workforce development among others. We are very grateful for the Senators’ support of United Way of Central Ohio and their nonprofit partners’ work to elevate the quality of life in Franklin County and beyond!

Inspiring day on Capitol Hill on Monday as advocates gathered to educate Congress on the importance of complete screening coverage for breast cancer! Women with dense breasts need ultrasound and/or MRI studies in addition to mammograms in order to be comprehensively screened for breast cancer, and the Find It Early Act ensures accessibility to full screening without financial barriers. Thank you to Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro for opening the briefing and leading the bill with Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick! It was insightful to hear from experts on breast cancer who served as briefing panelists, taking questions from staffers who gathered to learn more about the Find It Early Act and the difference it will make. Another exciting milestone reached in Ohio's recent allocation! #BaldwinWallaceUniversity received $500,000 from the One Time Strategic Community Investment Fund to further the Northeast Ohio Flight Information Exchange (#NEOFIX) project. This initiative aims to establish drone-ready infrastructure in Northeastern Ohio, fostering the development of a drone industry in the Cleveland area and beyond. Since its inception in December 2022, NEOFIX has garnered over $1.3 million in combined public and private investments and engaged numerous stakeholders. The allocated funds will propel the project towards enhancing airspace awareness for medical deliveries and improving emergency response efficiency. Specifically, the focus will be on advancing "drone as first responder" capabilities and facilitating the delivery of emergency medicines. Additionally, the funding will support the development of demonstration projects aimed at enhancing drone manufacturing, assembly, operations, education, and advanced air mobility for both people and cargo. Over the next twelve months, these efforts will contribute to shaping safe public policies in this domain. A special acknowledgment goes out to our dedicated project team members and partners, including #ATAAviation, #ManufacturingWorks, #CriticalOps, and #G2G, for their invaluable contributions in securing these vital funds.
