    Fancy dinners and courtside seats are nice and all but…they can’t really compete with snuggles from fluffy puppies. Which is to say, when the Shopify Merchant Success team visited Toronto recently, we ditched the usual wining and dining to connect over a cute posse of pups (with the occasional performative stretch thrown in). From chaturanga to shivasana, we transcended our physical bodies and reached new levels of fur-fuelled enlightenment.     As Pepper grew and their support ticket volume soared, they approached a classic fork in the road: Increase headcount, or leverage automation. ?? They opted for the latter after finding a good fit in Gorgias, and quickly ramped up their automation rate to ~50% with AI Agent (who they named Penelope). Pepper customers quickly fell in love with Penelope, and her swift resolutions. But even more impactful than time or money saved, was the new support-generated revenue from chat campaigns. And as of today, 19% of the chats that Penelope takes care of are going on to purchase Pepper products. (And that number is rising every month!)
