Networking with the OpenText MSP Peer Group! I recently attended another fantastic MSP peer group event hosted by OpenText at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood. They brought together strategic and influential partners to share pivotal information on the latest OpenText and Microsoft tools and technologies. These insights are crucial as they enable us to stay ahead of the curve, fostering a collaborative environment to enhance the service we provide to our clients. I champion networking relentlessly, and this event was no exception. I had a serendipitous meeting with a peer that could have opened doors to an exciting M&A opportunity. We discussed a potential partnership with another highly respected Technology provider to penetrate new markets in Latin America—a prospect I'm eager to explore further. This event also afforded me the honor of leading a peer workshop, where we tackled a series of topics that weigh on the minds of many business owners and executives. We were given free rein to exchange ideas and strategies, which proved immensely valuable. I discovered new tools and business practices I could implement immediately, from basic security automation to AI. More importantly, as many of you know, I am deeply committed to a people-first approach. The discussions about tools that can strengthen company culture and overall team happiness resonated with me. I am on a mission to make Gordon Lewis Group not just a great place to work but the best place to work, supporting other businesses in creating work environments that nurture and contribute to the well-being of their employees, their families, and the community at large. XChange San Antonio! [TL;DR: Always be networking - Amazing insights, connections, and experiences from XChange in San Antonio—cybersecurity, AI, and the power of community in the MSP world!] This month, I attended a great XChange event from?The Channel Company?in San Antonio. As always, connecting with so many brilliant tech professionals was great, and I am honored I got to work with?Fortra?and?Rob Pollard.?You guys did a great job. I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the members of my boardroom. You were awesome, and I learned a lot from each of you. Let's stay in touch and continue to support each other as we navigate the industry. These events are more than just opportunities to meet colleagues—they're where you find mentors, mentees, and lifelong connections. For instance, while attending this event, I gained crucial support from a fellow MSP who helped me put out a fire in a different state. We are a community willing to co-manage and support one another to benefit our clients and the industry. A big shoutout to the vendors and the amazing products we got to explore, including some impressive innovations from overseas companies making their mark in the U.S. Special thanks to Cynomi—it was a pleasure meeting you, and Royi thanks for the keepsake from my travels is much appreciated. It’s undeniable that the two hot topics right now are cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. As IT professionals, it's our responsibility to continually update our knowledge and share what we learn with others—whether it's our clients, small businesses, family members, or the broader community. Cybersecurity is crucial to protecting our loved ones and becoming a stronger community, country, and world. Likewise, understanding and leveraging AI can drastically improve our lives both professionally and personally. On a lighter note, these events are not just about work. I made sure to take some time to explore the city, and while the bike wasn’t in the basement of the Alamo (for those in the know, you know), it was a great experience to learn more about the history and culture of San Antonio. For fellow travelers attending these conferences, I highly recommend taking a break to explore the local sights—it’s a great way to recharge and gain new perspectives. I’ll be posting lots of images of me hanging out with amazing people—vendors, coworkers, and friends—learning together enjoying dinners, coffee, and the vibrant city life. Remember, when traveling for business, it’s important to also take time to work on your business, not just in it. Strategic relationships and a little personal downtime can go a long way.
