Did you know the first woman to use simulation in healthcare almost wasn’t allowed to study medicine in the first place? Angélique Marguerite Le Boursier du Coudray (1712-1794) fought tooth and nail to allow women to study midwifery. Once she was qualified, she pioneered midwifery education in France.? In addition to educating over 4,000 students for free over 23 years, Du Coudray’s legacy was solidified by her creation of a cloth birthing simulator, complete with an infant mannequin. The invention, known as “The Machine”, was the first of its kind.? This #WomensHistoryMonth, we want to honor the women of The Gordon Center and countless others saving lives across the globe. When we support women in medicine, we support better healthcare for everyone.? Image: Case Western Reserve University #WomeninMedicine #SimulationEducation #WomeninScience #InternationalWomensDay

The Florida Public Safety Institute in Tallahassee, FL, with the assistance of the #GordonCenter team, conducted an Active Shooter Hostile Events (ASHE) at the Gulf Coast State College Emergency Operations Center last week for personnel from Bay District Schools Police, Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary, Walton County Sheriff's Office, Florida State University Police, and more. The Gordon Center's innovative #ASHE training, supported by the The Florida Department of Education, focuses on inter-agency collaboration and rapid medical action to save lives in the event of a mass shooting crisis. “Regardless of department, every officer should be able to help a victim,” said Robert DiFerdinando, senior faculty instructor at the Gordon Center. A heartfelt thank you to WJHG-TV reporter Isabella Benjumea, a survivor of the tragedy at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, 7 years ago today, for sharing this important story. #GordonCenter #ASHE #ActiveShooterTraining
