The Recollection Series #3 – Lost works of art from long time silent distilleries Gordon & MacPhail proudly presents the launch of their annual Recollection Series. This year’s collection comprises six single cask single malt whiskies, presented at cask strength. The Recollection Series revives the spirit of distilleries that are now closed or have stood silent for decades. These ultra-rare works of art are irreplaceable chapters in Scotland’s liquid history. We are proud to have partnered with Emmy award-winning illustrator, Bruno Mangyoku. Gordon & MacPhail commissioned Bruno to revive the spirit of six lost or long-time silent distilleries by creating bespoke illustrations to reflect their former glory. The art theme, reflected in bold new packaging, positions the whiskies as ‘forgotten masterpieces’ and ‘lost works of art’, with the distilleries’ spirit revived using stunning illustrations. Gordon & MacPhail is delighted to announce a new collaboration with – BlockBar featuring the Mr George Legacy 1958 from Glen Grant Distillery. ? The fourth release in the annual Mr George Legacy Series – the 65-year old single malt is a fitting tribute to Mr George Urquhart, member of the second generation of the family that still owns Gordon & MacPhail today. The first-fill Sherry butt was laid down by ‘Mr George’ in 1958 and left to mature in a cask made to his own specifications. The theme surrounding this edition – ‘The Lone Oak’ – symbolises the importance of standing firm to one’s principles and having the courage of one’s convictions. ? Spirit quality manager Lizzie Haw is Gordon & MacPhail 's first female blender in its 129-year history, a milestone she was previously oblivious to. "Stuart Urquhart [operations director] said ‘did you know you're the first woman to work on the whisky side of things?’, but I'd never thought of that. I never grew up thinking there was a gender divide. You hear about it and know it’s there but I don't let things like that hold me back." We were honoured to welcome the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh to The Cairn Distillery yesterday, where they had the opportunity to meet our Chief Executive, Phillip White and the distillery team, nose our new-make spirit, and plant a commemorative aspen tree.?
