Meet Eve: a Dublin-based intern wrapping up her project on YouTube's Ads marketing team. "My project this past summer focused on finding new ways to engage video advertisers using artificial intelligence. To do that, I’ve been researching AI applications to propose scalable ideas to grow YouTube Ads." Eve decided to apply to Google because she saw an overlap between Google's culture and her personal values. "Having a background in languages, literature, and drama — coupled with work experience in mostly startup environments — it was important to find a company that emphasized outside-the-box thinking, innovation, and creativity. Google provides every employee, from intern to senior leadership, with the opportunity to pave their own path to achieve their goals, and a safe space to share new ideas." Meet Paul, a senior software engineer on the Angular Framework Team in Munich. This #WorldSpinalCordInjuryDay Paul took some time away from contributing to one of Google’s biggest open-source projects, a framework that powers web apps like Google Cloud to share his story and advice with us: “I had a motorcycle accident in 2020 that caused a severe spinal cord injury. I then started physical therapy and left the hospital with a wheelchair. I'm working hard to re-activate my muscles so that I can stand up and walk with assistance. This was a life-changing situation. Traveling with a spinal cord injury was scary at the beginning. Most of my team is located in the United States, so my job requires traveling occasionally. When I did eventually need to travel, Google supported me greatly, by allowing my brother to join and make sure I felt good. He was able to bring a larger walking device and my braces. Google also ensured I had the proper setup at home - an ergonomic chair with back support and a standing desk, so I can stand up during meetings, reduce sitting time, and increase overall well-being. One of the important aspects of a spinal cord injury I'd like to emphasize is the willingness to improve. You may be getting told numerous times that it's most likely no function will improve after X amount of time. I believe that you should continue to focus on working out; that doesn't necessarily mean working out physically, but can also mean focusing on your mind to connect to your impacted body parts. It's a great feeling, and from my experience can improve things drastically.” Learn more about #LifeAtGoogle, our benefits, and our employee resource group, the Disability Alliance → https://goo.gle/4egHtJJ

At Made on YouTube this week, we announced new ways to create, build community, and make a living doing what you love. Here’s how we’re making YouTube the best home for creators: (1) We’re integrating Google DeepMind’s newest generative video model - Veo - into Dream Screen on Shorts. This state-of-the-art technology is only the beginning of how we’re empowering creativity with AI. (2) Communities are a new space for creators to connect with fans on their channels, whether they’re sharing fan art or just starting a conversation with someone new. They’re available now on a handful of channels and we're expanding to more channels in early 2025. (3) We’re launching a new feature that lets fans “hype” videos so they can rally around their favorite emerging creators. The videos with the most hype points will appear on a special leaderboard. (4) We’re also helping creators expand their reach by bringing our automatic dubbing tool to hundreds of thousands more creators so they can generate translated audio tracks for videos in different languages. (5) We’re making it easier than ever to grow your business by introducing Gifts powered by Jewels, expanding our YouTube Shopping affiliate program, and helping you organize your content into seasons and episodes. Meet Jocelyn: a manufacturing & supply chain strategy intern wrapping up her internship at Google's Taiwan office. "Looking back on my summer, I have a newfound appreciation for the complex journey from building code to shipping a product," Jocelyn shared while explaining her role. "While engineers bring ideas to life, supply chain teams ensure those ideas become tangible devices like Pixel Phones and watches." More specifically, Jocelyn's project focused on applying artificial intelligence to supply chain management. "My work involved external research on AI/ML in other industries, and assessing the potential to incorporate similar technology into Google’s supply chain. I definitely felt like I was making a contribution to the team and to Google!"

Caregiving is a tapestry woven with threads of happiness, challenges, frustration, and fulfillment. It's a testament to the power of love and resilience in the face of life's realities. This journey is deeply personal as I watched my parents age, deal with the fragility of life and the challenges that come with it. Transitioning from the youngest child to a caregiver, has made me go through the spectrum of love, joy, and quiet sacrifice. And that's why I firmly believe organizations must acknowledge the invisible burdens and emotional toll that often accompanies caregiving be it for children, parents or other cherished individuals. Recognizing the resilience and fortitude of caregivers and offering tangible support is imperative. We at Google are celebrating Parents and Caregivers Week -"Caring for others, caring for ourselves", led by our amazing Parents and Caregivers (PACE) ERG. The week started? with a "Care for the Caregiver" session, offering practical ways for Googlers to prioritize their emotional and physical well-being. We also had a powerful session on Mindful Parenting exploring themes like building deeper connections with children and fostering their growth. My two takeaways : 1. Put your oxygen mask on first: Caregiving requires immense strength, but it's crucial to prioritize your own well-being. "Resilience is about how you recharge, not what you endure." 2. Find your tribe : A community that? shares experiences, and supports one another. #PACE #ParentsAndCaregivers #Google #Inclusion #Support #Community #WorkLifeBalance Bikram Singh Bedi Taru Dahiya Stella Joshua Hansika Yadav Davina Shearer Milanda George Swati Gupta Roman Matla
