Cindy Lou Bates, a dedicated Goodwill employee in Fayetteville, TN, was gifted a 2004 Honda through the Wheels to Work program after losing her car in an accident. This generous donation helps her regain independence, and continue her work without relying on family members and friends for rides. Congratulations, Cindy! This marks the 19th car given through the program, showing how reliable transportation can open doors to life-changing opportunities. Cindy is also embracing the challenge of learning to drive a manual transmission—an adventure she’s ready for! Honoring the Legacy of Rob McNeilly With deep respect and heartfelt gratitude, we remember Robert Eugene McNeilly III — known to all as Rob — a devoted leader whose impact on Goodwill and the lives of countless Tennesseans spanned more than two decades. Since 2002, Rob has served Goodwill with unwavering dedication — as a board member, board chair, trustee, and most recently, a committee member. Throughout his tenure, Rob demonstrated an exceptional ability to guide, inspire, and influence those around him with contagious enthusiasm and positivity. He played a pivotal role in shaping Goodwill’s strategic direction, ensuring that education, training and employment opportunities remained accessible to those who needed them most. Yesterday, we had the honor of surprising Shawanda Green, one of our dedicated Goodwill employees, with a car through our “Wheels to Work” program. For nearly 7 years, Shawanda relied on long bus rides and rides from family members to get to work. Now, she’ll have the freedom to get to work easily, live on her own time, and spend more time with her grandchildren. Shawanda’s journey with Goodwill has been incredible. She came to us feeling uncertain about interacting with others, but today, she’s one of the friendliest cashiers you’ll meet, greeting customers with a smile and a conversation. We couldn’t be more proud of her growth and the joy she brings to our team. This is what Goodwill is all about—changing lives.
