For International Women’s Day, Christina Mitchell and Shelly Marino had the opportunity to attend The YWCA Greater Flint special panel discussion and lunch in honor of Flint Women’s success stories. ??Mission Moment?? Ian was referred to Goodwill Mid-Michigan from Michigan Rehabilitation Services to complete a two-week work trial assessment. Ian worked in our Computer Tear Down area at our Plant location where he was responsible for removing batteries from toys and other items and sorting CDs, DVDs, and other media accordingly. Ian likes to spend time with his family, play video games, and attend hockey games in his free time. Ian displayed a great level of self-independence, hard work, and perseverance during his two-week work assessment. Ian has set a goal for himself to hopefully work in concessions at a movie theater or obtain a position at Costco in his near future. Goodwill appreciates and thanks you for all of your hard work Ian and we wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors! #MissionMoment #GoodwillMidMichigan #ThePowerOfWork #ChangingLives #opportunitiesforall

?? Mission Moment?? Serenity joined Goodwill through a trial work experience with Michigan Rehabilitation Services, marking her very first job! Working in our kitchen at the Plant location, she impressed us all with her determination and eagerness to learn. She gained hands-on experience washing and putting away dishes, assisting with baking, doing laundry for the kitchen, and keeping the space clean. But beyond the tasks, Serenity also built confidence in communicating with coworkers, counselors, management, and career coaches. Outside of Goodwill, Serenity enjoys spending time with family and friends.
