Today is an amazing day to announce our $9M Series A financing at GoodSAM, PBC . This financing was not an easy feat. It took 2 years to find the right combination of investors. We said no to several bad term sheets, we scoured the entire CPG landscape and came up, mostly, empty handed. Then we brought on Greg Krupa who brought in a whole new ecosystem of capital, investors and ideology. Ideology, that aligned with the vision of GoodSAM in ways I never could have imagined. These investors were all about impact. And they all came from the countries we work in Latin America. I have been deeply moved by these partnerships and the vote of confidence from the global south in our regenerative business model. I am humbled. This is a celebratory day for me and the whole GoodSAM team and our investors, retail partners, and most importantly the communities we work with but I can not help but acknowledge the other side of this news. I am an American founder doing business globally. We have a president in the United States who is punishing American businesses for doing business overseas with tariffs and dangerous rhetoric. Do we understand that we would not have the majority of products in our grocery stores without a global economy? Do we understand that we can not scale the majority of the food that feeds Americas because our land is so sick and our farmers so underpaid (and fully disclosed- GoodSAM does not produce products overseas that we can scale in the US and we work with walnut and almond farmers in California)? This is a happy day but the irony is not lost on me. I celebrate this milestone but in light of the current political climate I will also state here that our success is an act of resistance.
