Is college still worth it? It’s a question we explored on stage at the NASH Superconvening—and it’s one that continues to shape the future of higher education. ?? With declining enrollment, rising skepticism, and shifting definitions of value, higher ed is at a crossroads. But what if these challenges are actually a call to reimagine what’s possible? In our latest blog, we unpack how purpose-driven institutions can embrace this moment to lead with clarity, rebuild public trust, and drive meaningful transformation. ?? Good Rebellion转å‘了
Last week, I had the privilege of speaking on two panels at the The National Association of Higher Education Systems (NASH) Superconvening — discussing both career pathways and the value of college education. Of course for a majority of students, these conversations aren't separate but deeply interconnected. During the Career Pathways panel, we explored how pairing credentials with degrees helps students develop job-ready skills without compromising their focus on a broader field of study. For example, a history major with data analytics skills can increase their entry-level earning potential by up to 35%. By complementing degrees with stackable certificates we can ensure students acquire marketable skills along their path to a degree - providing on-ramps and off-ramps for the vast majority of learners who need that flexibility and portability to de-risk their journey. On the "Is College Worth It?" panel, this theme was reinforced, particularly when Phaedra Boinodiris highlighted that in a world of rapid innovation skilled, interdisciplinary talent is key for both employers and society as a whole. This connects directly to our work at Google where we're building partnerships that bridge education and employers needs. While the moment might be uncertain, I left the Superconvening energized and optimistic about the power of "systemness" and the work our team continues to do with dozens of higher ed systems and hundreds of employers across the nation to build stronger career pathways to high-growth, in-demand jobs. Big thanks to Jessica Todtman and the NASH team for the invitation and ongoing partnership, and to Rico Reed and David Belsky for being outstanding panel moderators. And thank you to my fellow panelists for a great conversation Kelvin Bentley, Ph.D. Jonathan Gyurko, PhD Brendan Kelly Boyd Baggett Phaedra Boinodiris #CareerPathways #HigherEd #FutureOfWork #GrowwithGoogle

?? The Good Rebellion team is still buzzing from the incredible energy at The National Association of Higher Education Systems #Superconvening2025! ?? Higher ed leaders, changemakers, and innovators from across the country gathered for two days of groundbreaking discussions on the future of postsecondary education in America—and we were honored not just to be part of it, but to help design and bring it to life. From strategic event design to seamless program execution, our team was at the heart of making this convening a success. A huge shoutout to our founder, David Belsky, for his powerful insights during the closing plenary, "Is College Worth It?"—a critical conversation on the true value of a degree in today’s evolving landscape. We also want to recognize our incredible advisor, Felice Nudelman, for leading the breakout session "Engaged Citizens: Higher Ed's Role in Preparing Tomorrow's Leaders." ?? This discussion highlighted the essential role of public higher education in fostering civic engagement, preparing students to be leaders of tomorrow, and integrating social responsibility into the curriculum. The work doesn’t stop here, and we’re already counting down the days until next year’s Superconvening! ?? Today, we celebrate a true #RebelForACause: Justice Elena Kagan. ??? As the fourth woman to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court, Justice Kagan has been a steadfast advocate for equality, fairness, and the integrity of the law. Throughout her career—as a legal scholar, Solicitor General, and Supreme Court Justice—she has championed judicial independence and the power of the law to protect the rights of all people. Kagan’s sharp intellect, commitment to justice, and ability to bridge divides have made a lasting impact on the legal system. On this International Day of Women Judges, we honor her leadership and the many women in the judiciary who are breaking barriers, upholding justice, and shaping a more equitable future. #ElenaKagan #RebelForACause #InternationalDayOfWomenJudges #WomenInLaw #JusticeForAll #BreakingBarriers #GoodRebellion #WomenWhoLead

??? The Ripple of Democracy: The Selma to Montgomery Marches (1965) ??? They marched for justice. They marched for equality. They marched for the right to vote. In March 1965, thousands of demonstrators marched from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, to demand voting rights for Black Americans. Facing brutal opposition on "Bloody Sunday," their courage drew national attention and helped spur the passage of the Voting Rights Act later that year. ? Their steps created ripples that continue to inspire movements for voting access and equality today. The fight for democracy is ongoing, but the Selma marchers remind us that change happens when we walk together. ???? #TheRippleEffect #BlackHistoryMonth #SelmaToMontgomery #VotingRights #CivilRightsMovement #GoodRebellion

Carving out your own identity in a world that often tries to label you is an act of courage. Carol Moseley-Braun, the first Black woman elected to the U.S. Senate, broke barriers by refusing to be confined by expectations. Her words remind us that self-definition is a journey—one that requires resilience, confidence, and the unwavering belief that we are the authors of our own stories. This Black History Month, let’s honor the trailblazers who have reshaped narratives and opened doors for future generations. ?????? ?? ??? The Ripple of Courage: The Greensboro Sit-Ins ??? On February 1, 1960, four college students sat down at a Woolworth’s lunch counter in Greensboro, NC, and asked to be served. Their peaceful protest against segregation ignited a wave of sit-ins across the country and became a defining moment of the Civil Rights Movement. ? Their bravery showed the world the power of youth activism and nonviolent resistance. The ripples of their actions are still felt today in every movement that demands change through peaceful protest. ???? ?? How can we honor their courage in our fight for justice today? Let’s talk. #TheRippleEffect #BlackHistoryMonth #GreensboroSitIns #YouthActivism #CivilRightsMovement #GoodRebellion
