    Founder & CEO @ GoodPop | Cleaned-Up Classic Treats With A Purpose

    For too long, consumers have had no voice when it comes to the food they eat. Big Food lobbies have made it difficult - if not impossible - to create meaningful progress in food transparency. Whether it’s misleading labels, hidden ingredients, or the way nutrition information is presented, the system isn’t built to prioritize public health. It’s built to protect the interests of the biggest food companies. That has to change. At GoodPop, we believe consumers deserve an organization that fights for them - one that demands real transparency in food labeling and holds companies accountable for what’s in their products. So we, along with some of our industry friends, decided to do something about it. We launched the Good Food Collective - the first natural food lobby advocating for consumers, real food, and true transparency around what we’re putting in our bodies. This will be an organization where responsible food companies and nutrition leaders join forces to push for change at the policy level. Instead of just reacting to Big Food’s influence, we’re fighting to be the voice consumers haven’t had. Better food shouldn’t be reserved for those who can read food labels with 0.5 font size or who shell out big bucks at designer grocery stores. It should be the standard for all of us. There’s a lot more to come in the next few weeks and months, and I can’t wait to share more!     Last week was my seventh time attending Expo West, though my first time attending representing a brand and not a retailer. Leading up to the event, I kept thinking about how different it might be attending “on the other side”, but it was much more similar than I expected. This year, I still: - Only managed to connect with 1/3 of who I had planned to see - Returned home without a voice, but with a full cup ?? - Couldn’t walk more than 50 yards without running into a friend , wishing we had more time to connect - Had an awesome time getting to know fantastic colleagues better. The GoodPop team is a special group of people! - Caught up with former colleagues I’ve missed - Made new connections - Attended a few panels covering relevant, timely content (check out Unpacking Front-of-Pack Nutrition Labels in post show content access) - Had many meaningful conversations - Shared many, many hugs, laughs and a few tears It’s really about great people creating a pulsing energy in this industry. It’s truly energizing to see thousands working to bring better to consumers. I was thrilled by the response I received when sharing what we are doing at GoodPop with the Good Food Collective.     Every year I leave Expo West feeling inspired by all of the incredible brands out there working to make our food better-for-us. Here were a few things that caught my eye on the show floor... ?? Pistachios: From Táche pistachio milk to spreadable cream, I discovered delicious ways to enjoy one of my favorite nuts. ?? Mushrooms: Continue to reign! From coffee to my new favorite Nature's Fynd breakfast patties, brands keep finding new ways to use fungi. They even made a star appearance on Elle Lanning's fab sweater. ?? Illustrations: Brand creative doesn't always need to involve color washing. Loved seeing intricate illustrations & artwork - like those on the Counter Culture Coffee boxes - give vibrancy to packaging. ?? Sparking Joy: The industry keeps finding ways to surprise & delight consumers - from GoodPop's very own Mickey Mouse pops to Belgian Boys wildly popular pink bags. But the only trend with staying power is that the natural CPG community is just full of the most kind, curious and inspiring people and I'm lucky to be part of it with the coolest GoodPop crew. Feeling grateful and energized on this flight back to Boston and also in desperate need of a salad ?? .
