Last year, we extended our training to practitioners in 12 states beyond New York and California. Recently, Dr. Alan-Michael Graves, our Senior Director of Teaching and Capacity Building, led a training in Oklahoma City for the Oklahoma Department of Human Services focused on building fatherhood capacity at the Oklahoma Familyhood statewide training for over 1000 human services professionals, contractors, community-based organizations, and partners. Here’s a clip from Graves’ FAM Talk Presentation, Oklahoma Human Services Familyhood Statewide Training, October 2024. The Good+ Training Academy provides training, technical assistance, and resource linkages to transform social service systems that have been identified as obstacles to a father-inclusive approach to helping families thrive. Thank you to Public Strategies for the invitation. Watch the full video on our Youtube channel.

We aim to dismantle generational poverty by pairing critical goods with innovative services for underserved parents.
关于我们
Good+Foundation is committed to upending multi-generational poverty. We utilize an innovative approach to father engagement, we work to alter systems + policies to create long-lasting change, and we meet the everyday needs of mothers, fathers, and caregivers through donations of essential goods and financial grants. With an early focus on mothers and children, Good+ expanded programming in 2010 to strengthen support for non-custodial and formerly incarcerated fathers to address one of the root causes of cyclical poverty: father absence. Today, the organization partners with a national network of social service programs to pair goods – such as cribs, car seats and diapers – with mental health support, workforce development, co-parenting classes, preparation for the high school equivalency exam and more. By giving fathers tools, dignity and opportunities to re-engage with their families, mothers are getting more support, children are getting greater access to their fathers and men are learning how to become the dads they want to be. Good+Foundation has offices and warehouses in New York City and Los Angeles and strategically distributes more than $7 million worth of goods each year across the country. In 2020, 92 percent of expenses went directly back into Good+ programs. The organization has earned nine consecutive 4-star ratings on Charity Navigator – the highest rating possible – as well as a GuideStar Platinum Seal of Transparency and accreditation by the Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Alliance for transparency, efficiency and operations.

For families facing financial challenges, purchasing winter coats can be a significant financial burden, especially when there are multiple children or family members who need them. A coat drive alleviates that financial strain, allowing families to use their resources on other essential needs like food, utilities, or housing. Please consider hosting a coat drive to collect children’s coats that we will distribute to local families this winter season. To learn more about hosting a coat drive, please fill out the inquiry form below.

This week is National Young Readers Week! The goal is to encourage children to love reading and to raise awareness of the importance of literacy. Reading is a very important activity in a child's life that develops skills and enhances the way the brain functions. Consider hosting a book drive this month to collect gently used and new books for early readers ages 0-5 that we will share with local families over the holiday season. To learn more about hosting a book drive, complete the inquiry form in the comments. What's your favorite children's book? #bookdrive #reading #literacy

What we’re reading! The RAPID-California Voices Project recently released a state-wide survey of households with children under six. Their data found that a majority LA County parents with young children have difficulty meeting basic needs. Research like this supports the importance of our work supporting under-resourced families in Los Angeles. Take a read for the full survey findings and let us know your thoughts. https://lnkd.in/gtpsaK4r

35% of families we serve are Co-parenting. The focus of our last National Partner Convening, which brought together east and west coast program partners, was Co-Parenting. During the session, participants viewed excerpts from Shaka Senghor and Ebony Roberts powerful TEDxDetroit talk, which shared their journey of healthy co-parenting, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing their son's well-being and the role that happy parents play in that process. Following the viewing, Good+ Training Academy team Alan-Michael Graves and Caleb Beyah facilitated a conversation about the realities of co-parenting, “parallel parenting”, and how to prioritize a child's well-being in every situation. Contact [email protected] to learn how the Good+ Training Academy can facilitate expert guidance on trainings in fatherhood, bias, and trauma-informed care for your team. #CoParenting #ParallelParenting #TraumaInformedCare

For children who are facing difficult circumstances, like many that we serve at Good+, having a toy can bring a sense of normalcy and joy. Engaging in play with a parent not only strengthens the parent-child bond but also lays the foundation for essential life skills. We rely on toys collected at toy drives from the Good+ community to distribute to families through our network of partner organizations. Consider selecting from our Amazon Gift Registry to send toys to children or hosting a toy drive this month.
