Today is International Women’s Day—a global celebration of the social, economic, and cultural achievements of women. In honor of this day and Women’s History Month, we asked the Good+ staff: “Who is a woman that has inspired you in your life and career?” Dr. Laurel Parker West, Interim CEO/Chief Program & Operations Officer, shares how Chef Julia Child’s spirit of fun and embrace of mistakes continues to influence her approach to mentoring and working with others: “She had such an incredible grace and humor that we all learned how to roll with the punches and keep moving forward, even when there are challenges.” This month, we’ll be sharing more women that have inspired the Good+ team! NYC high school students—looking for a meaningful way to spend your day off? Join Good+Foundation on March 31 from 10am-2pm for our Alternative Break volunteering opportunity. Students will participate in numerous volunteer projects at our Midtown warehouse, helping to prepare essential items for donation to families in need throughout NYC. Along the way, you’ll learn about the mission of Good+, gain a deeper understanding of the communities we serve, and see firsthand the impact of our donations—all while getting a behind-the-scenes look at how a nonprofit operates. Volunteers are the heart of Good+Foundation, and they ensure that donated items are bundled and handled with an extra touch of care before being placed in the hands of families. In 2001, Good+Foundation was founded by Jessica Seinfeld with a simple but powerful mission: to support moms, parents, and caregivers working toward a better future for their families. Nido de Esperanza provides holistic family programming to support the social, emotional, and developmental needs of babies and parents during the first 1000 days of the baby’s life. Ramona Nivar, Donations and Distribution Coordinator, shares how Good+Foundation’s 5-year partnership has aided Nido de Esperanza’s ability to provide essential items to families and serve the community.
