Here's what people are saying about GHW's Therapy-As-Needed Program: "I've had anxiety for years but never sought help through therapy. When I saw this was being offered on-site, it was the sign I needed to take the step towards health." "This really shows a commitment to mental health. I'm proud of my company!" "I'm finally choosing to address my depression. I don't think I realized how much it was impacting my work, so it's interesting to access support through my work environment." Proactive therapy exists! Just like seeing a primary care doc for physical health, many therapists provide mental health "check ups" for clients. This is for you if you consider yourself to be doing alright most of the time, but sometimes need to discuss a single issue, want a regular "check up", or could use an expert who knows YOU to give you the unique strategies you should be using. - Learn the strategies and tools that are uniquely best for YOU to take care of your mental-emotional-relational health. - Build a relationship with a trusted, licensed therapist, then reach out as-needed when issues arise over the years or more support is needed. - Have an annual check-in with your trusted therapist to catch issues early, learn what to expect at this stage of life, and make sure you're on the right track to stay healthy. #selfcare #wellness #change #findyourtherapist #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealth #counseling #goodhumanwork #stpaul #minneapolis #chicago #milwaukee #prevention #madison

  • Pardon our language, but life is f***ing hard. It's full of complications, stressors, and uncertainty - and we’re somehow expected to just be okay and roll with it. Just “push through”... No matter how smart, strong or resilient you might be, chances are - life is still going to get the best of you at some point. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Choosing to directly deal with our stressors is actually a sign of incredible strength. Avoidance tends to make things worse. Is it time for you to reach out to someone? • Yesterday, one of our owners, Shelly Smith, LMFT, had the honor of presenting to a group of highly skilled physical therapists and athletic trainers who work in occupational settings. Collaborative care between physical and mental health providers is best practice, whole-person care that truly makes a difference for employees. Thank you Advanced Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine for the great work you do!

At this year’s APTSM Clinical Symposium, we united with a shared mission: keeping workers healthy, ensuring fast and safe recovery when injuries occur, and streamlining their return to work or duty. Together, we tackled some of the biggest challenges in occupational health, including: ??Early intervention strategies – Preventing minor aches from turning into major injuries ??Ergonomic solutions & job site analysis – Creating safer workplaces and supporting return-to-work strategies ??Testing & screening tools – Building a stronger, injury-resistant workforce ??The mind-body connection – Understanding how mental and physical health impact recovery ??Expedited access to exceptional care – Connecting workers with primary care and orthopedic experts who specialize in industrial and tactical needs The key takeaway: Better care for workers means healthier businesses and stronger communities. We’re proud to be part of the solution. -- Thank you,?Chad Meyer,?Sally Egan, @Mark Schmitz,?Heidi Bohl, Shelly Smith, LMFT, Dr.? Sumeet Goel, and Dr. Joseph P. McCormick,?for sharing your knowledge and expertise with our team. "How often do healthy couples fight?" "We fight so much, it just won't work, right?" "What is healthy conflict anyway?" These are common questions we hear in therapy. The short answer, "Yes, healthy couples fight...however, how you fight matters." This is true for all relationships. We can be in relationship with those we disagree with, as long as the conflict is navigated in healthy ways. Read our latest Therapist Reflection article for the longer answer and what you need to consider to have healthy conflict in your relationships. https://lnkd.in/dTEZzTEe

One of our therapists recently found this on Broadway in NYC ~ and, wow, if there's ever been a time to have a check-in with your therapist, it's now. Life chaos, work overwhelm, winter blues, holiday busy-ness, family dynamics...any combination of these makes it tricky to maintain calm and happiness. Reach out for a check-in with your trusted therapist to process emotions, consider solutions, and increase your coping strategies. We still have some therapist availability this month. Or please share with a friend who doesn't have a great therapist yet. We'll help them get them connected to a great provider (with us or in another practice if we're not the ideal fit). https://lnkd.in/gJMmgkcC

It's World Mental Health Day. Our therapists recommend a check-in and these tips: - Have you checked in on your mental health recently? - Have you asked friends and family about their mental health lately? - What needs to be adjusted to improve your mental health? - What small change can be made today toward that goal? Tip 1: Small choices make the biggest changes over time. Tip 2: Talk with someone else about the changes you'll make and listen to what changes they want to make. Supportive relationships have a huge impact on improving and maintaining our mental health. Tip 3: Establish a routine mental health check up with a trusted, licensed therapist (just like an annual check in with your primary care doctor). Then you have someone who knows you when issues pop up in the future.
