For the first time, Good Grief proudly participated in the Latino Mental Health Association of NJ's Annual Conference; and we didn’t just attend, we presented! Annette Mendez and Michelle Castruita from our team, along with our incredible partner Debra Pacheco, a doctoral candidate from St. Elizabeth University, led a powerful session on Professional Development and Peer Support for Latinx Mental Health Providers. They tackled real challenges: burnout, systemic inequities, and the pressure of doing meaningful work in demanding environments; while uplifting the power of culturally-rooted resilience, career growth, and peer support. This milestone is more than a presentation, it's a celebration! A celebration of community, of identity, and of Good Grief growing into an organization that is better equipped to support Latinx grievers and professionals alike. We’re incredibly proud of our presenters and excited to continue walking this path with intention, humility, and heart. #Grief #GoodGriefNJ #GriefSupport #LatinoMentalHealth #PeerSupport #GriefSupport #RepresentationMatters #MentalHealthMatters #CommunityCare #BurnoutRecovery #LatinxTherapists #CulturallyRelevantCare

This past weekend, our hearts were full as Good Grief joined the Black Family Wellness Expo, hosted by the Raritan Valley Chapter of The Links and the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Central NJ Chapter. Our incredible volunteers, Donna and Marjorie, represented us with warmth, compassion, and joy. We are thankful to them for connecting with so many families and community leaders. Donna shared, “The vibe was so positive… It was such a joy to work alongside Marjorie. The hospitality was great, and the keynote, Dr. La’Tesha Simpson, was phenomenal!” We’re especially grateful to our amazing partner, Melda Grant, from Trenton Public Schools’ School-Based Youth Services Program, who invited us to be part of this beautiful event. From facilitating grief groups and trainings to advocating for statewide grief education, Melda continues to lead with heart and purpose; we were honored to celebrate her at our recent Gala and are grateful to be included in events like this! We LOVE showing up for communities, creating new connections, and sharing grief support with those who need it. Interested in having Good Grief at your next event? Let’s connect! We are thrilled to share that our very own Evelynn Moon was recently featured on The Ageless Traveler podcast, hosted by former Good Grief volunteer and bereavement advocate, Adriane Berg. In this special episode, Evelynn and Adriane discuss the critical work Good Grief is doing to support grieving children and families, including our Nights of Support, the New Jersey grief bill, our school-based initiatives, and collaborations with private companies and nonprofits. Adriane, who found comfort in travel during her own journey through grief, beautifully connects her experiences to the mission of Good Grief. This episode was part of Podcasthon, an initiative highlighting podcasters' favorite charities, and we are honored to be among them. Tune in to the episode wherever you get your favorite podcasts or by clicking here: https://lnkd.in/eTv2Rn9C Thank you Adriane for choosing Good Grief as your favorite charity for this event and spreading the word about our work and how to support! Thank you for bringing your whole self to this conference and representing Good Grief, Inc. !
Today, I had the incredible honor of presenting at the 2025 Annual Latino Mental Health Conference on the future of Latino mental health. Being surrounded by educated, passionate, and proud Latinos invigorated me in ways I didn’t even know I needed. It was more than just a professional experience—it was a reminder of the power of representation and community. Like many, I battle with imposter syndrome. It crept in today, shaking my confidence for a moment. But then, I looked around and saw people who looked like me, spoke like me, and understood the unique challenges we face. And in that moment, I felt reaffirmed. The future of Latino mental health is bright because of the work we are all doing together. Representation matters. These conversations matter. And we matter. Sí se puede. ????? Kudos to my AMAZING co-facilitators Debra Pacheco, M.A. and Michelle Castruita, MSW, LSW for helping me remember who I am. #LatinoMentalHealth #RepresentationMatters #SíSePuede #Community #MentalHealthAwareness #LMHA #LMHAC2025 Latino Mental Health Association of New Jersey

Thank you for bringing this important topic to the LMANJ Conference and representing Good Grief, Inc. !!
Today, I had the honor of leading a workshop, “Empowering LatinX Mental Health Providers”, at the Latino Mental Health Association of New Jersey 2025 Annual Conference, The Future of Latinx Mental Health, in collaboration with Good Grief—an organization where I volunteer to provide trainings to help parents, teachers, and caregivers navigate conversations about grief. And to make it even more special, I had the privilege of sharing this moment with these two amazing women, Annette Mendez and Michelle Castruita, MSW, LSW. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine seeing my face on a conference poster. This is for all my Latinos/as, para que sepan que los sue?os no terminan cuando despertamos??????

We are still feeling the energy, connection, and inspiration from this year’s Spring Institute! We were excited to host volunteer facilitators, educators, social workers, funeral directors, and mental health professionals who all came together to deepen their understanding of grief support and build meaningful connections. Standout moments included: ?? A deeply moving panel discussion featuring young adults and caregivers of grieving children, offering powerful insights into the real-life impact of support in our schools. ?? Dr. Schonfeld’s keynote struck the perfect balance of humor, expertise, and lived experience, leaving us informed and inspired. ?? Breakout sessions tailored for school staff, community organizations, mental health professionals, and our dedicated volunteer facilitators. ?? An awards ceremony honoring volunteers who have given 5, 10, and 15 years of service! ?? And one of our favorite reflections from a participant: “I feel so good in this space because I know I’m with my people.” ?? These moments remind us why grief support and education matter, because no one, and especially no child, should have to navigate loss alone. Thank you to everyone who attended, shared their wisdom, and helped make this event so special. We can’t wait to do it again next year! #Grief #GriefSupport #GriefEducation #NJGriefBill #GGSpringInstitute #GoodGriefNJ #SpringInstitute2025 #ProfessionalDevelopment
