At Good Grief, we are incredibly fortunate to have an extraordinary partner in the Patchwork Bear, who bring comfort families as well as facilitate their continued bond to their person who died. For both of our recent Day of Remembrance events, their dedicated volunteers gave their time and talent to help families create “Hearts of Hope”, beautiful keepsakes made from clothing belonging to their person who died. These memory hearts, lovingly crafted with care and kindness, serve as a tangible reminder of the connection our families have with their person. But their generosity doesn’t stop there. This past weekend, 49 members of our Good Grief community gathered at our Princeton Center for a powerful and heartfelt Day of Remembrance. For the first time since 2019, we welcomed families, extended relatives, and friends to honor, celebrate, and remember their person in a space filled with connection, love, and meaningful moments. Together, we shared stories, lit candles as names were read, enjoyed incredible food, each dish holding special significance to the families and the persons who have died, and created memory heart keepsakes—thanks once again to The Patchwork Bear. We were especially touched by the joy of children showing their group rooms to loved ones, the warmth of families crafting together, and the emotions of those who didn’t want the day to end. One grandfather even admitted he was "tricked" into coming, but after the experience, he said he'd definitely be back next year. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made this day so special.
