The tassels on a corn plant release pollen, which is caught by the golden silks on each ear of #corn Every silk is connected to a single kernel on the cob. When a silk is fertilized by pollen, the kernel starts to develop. In sweet corn, the kernels fill with natural sugars, giving it that deliciously sweet taste. There have been so many moments where we’ve thought about quitting or even selling the business. Running a family-owned company sounds like a dream, but let me tell you, it’s not always easy. There are days when the challenges seem too large, and the pressure to keep everything going can often feel overwhelming. We’ve had our fair share of late-night discussions, wondering if it’s all worth it. But then, we remember why we started. We remember that this business isn’t just about canned beans and vegetables…it’s about our family, hard work, and a commitment to consistent quality. It’s about knowing that every can on the shelf represents a piece of our family’s 20 year story, our values, and our dedication to bringing something ‘GOODE’ to the world. ?? But of course there are pros and cons to this: We get to work together as a family, make decisions that align with our values, and build something that we hope will last for generations. The cons? It’s tough. We’re constantly balancing family dynamics with business demands, and often times, the lines blur. But at the end of the day, we wouldn’t trade it for anything. When we see our products on the shelves, and we see our father’s picture on the can, it reminds us why we keep going.
