关于我们
At Good Shepherd, our conviction is what drives us. Our compassion is what fuels us. And our spirit is boundless. Good Shepherd provides inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient rehabilitation, long-term acute care, long-term care, physician services and community-based services. We specialize in treatment of spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke, major multi-trauma, pulmonary disease, respiratory failure, musculoskeletal/orthopedics and complex pediatric conditions. Good Shepherd traces its pioneering spirit for innovation and compassionate care to its founding family, The Rev. John “Papa” Raker and D. Estella “Mama” Raker. In 1908, the Rakers opened the Good Shepherd Home to care for children with disabilities and senior citizens, filling an unmet community need — and setting the stage for Good Shepherd’s continued growth as a rehabilitation groundbreaker. Good Shepherd also partners with Penn Medicine to provide rehabilitation and specialty services in the greater Philadelphia area and New Jersey through Good Shepherd Penn Partners.

Earlier this month, the Good Shepherd Learns and Creates team combined efforts with Moravian University Occupational Therapy students to host a Switch-Adapted Toy Workshop at Empower+, inside of Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital. All told, children received 13 switch-adapted toys via the Good Shepherd Rehabilitation | Moravian University 3D Experience. Attendees enjoyed light refreshments and child-friendly activities. Thank you to volunteers JoAnn Partington, Denise Roncolato, and Michael Spigel, who helped distribute toys. And a special thanks to Nate Keglovits for his turn as Santa.

The primary objective of a new study Good Shepherd Rehabilitation is participating in is to use Neuvotion's new investigational (transcutaneous) neuromuscular electrical stimulation device, called NeuStimTM, to evoke and assess functional grasping in individuals following spinal cord injury or stroke. Occupational therapists Kathryn Karoly, Gail Metzger and Carly Haffner will be the first at Good Shepherd to use this device in a research setting. In addition to characterizing the ability of the device to produce hand movements, they are testing the proprietary Glide Path technology that uses AI to recognize arm motions and enable user-driven functional grasping. Dr. Sandeep Singh MD FAAPMR, Good Shepherd's Chief Medical Officer, is the Principal Investigator and Rhonda Tucker is the Clinical Researcher. The study is scheduled to begin this winter. . . . Until now, the main goal of a rehabilitation provider was to get the patient back to good. But we believe that good is just scratching the surface. That a life-altering challenge can serve as inspiration. It’s a different way of thinking from a different kind of network. One that has Good in its name, but has no intention of ever stopping there. Because this is where possibilities are transformed into something much more. This is Good Shepherd Rehabilitation. . . . 1-888-447-3422 (44-REHAB) goodshepherdrehab.org

?? This isn't exactly a "French auteur film," but I couldn't resist adding a little French touch with my accent! It was a true pleasure for me to meet Dr. Sandeep Singh MD FAAPMR, MD at the American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (AAPM&R) (AAPM&R) this year and have the opportunity to interview him. As Chief Medical Officer, Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs, and Medical Director of the SCI Program at Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Dr. Singh shared his visionary insights and perspectives on future trends in PM&R. He is an inspiring leader and an engaging speaker, and I was fortunate to have heard him speak at the American Medical Rehabilitation Providers Association (AMRPA) conference just the week before. I am thrilled to be working alongside him to ensure the success of Atalante at Good Shepherd Rehabilitation and to share our insights with our partners. A big thank you to the entire Good Shepherd team for your trust, dedication, and energy throughout this journey!
