Good Samaritan

There are no words to express the sadness of our Good Samaritan family today. Early yesterday morning, our dear colleague and friend left this world for eternity. Scotti Hartman was one of the best and brightest among us. Her keen sense of humor, quick wit and contagious joy was a blessing to everyone who had the fortune to know her. Scotti formally joined our family in 2022 after a long (27 year) and wonderful career at Richfield Living. Although her stint at Good Sam only lasted three years, for us, it feels as if she was always here. Her journey with Good Sam started in our first year of service, 1992, when we had the honor to care for her dad at home. Her impact will be felt for decades to come, not only at Good Sam but across the Roanoke Valley and state. Scotti challenged the status quo and lifted spirits. Her bigger than life personality, charisma and compassion made her an exceptional person that each one of us is lucky to have known. We cherish the time we were given with Scotti. We will hold tightly to the lessons she taught us, the amazing stories she told us and the example she set for us all. Our hearts are broken for her family and friends. Our hearts are broken for the great loss to our organization. Our lives will never be the same, but we will continue to hear her voice encouraging us, guiding us and challenging us to be the best version of ourselves as we carry out the mission she dedicated her life to pursuing. She is a woman who was loved by so many because she gave so much. Scotti made us feel happy. She made us feel hopeful. She made us laugh. To know her, was to love her. Today, we feel great loss and heartbreak. The world certainly feels less bright without her beautiful smile and spirit.
