A not for profit, labor innovation lab. We design and evaluate to disseminate and scale.
关于我们
We design, test, and scale programs using rigorous research methods, that align worker wellbeing with business interests. We work across a worker's employment journey from unlocking female labor to closing the skill gap, improving job quality, and improving health conditions. Businesses, because of their scale, hold immense potential to drive social change, while staying true to their principles. However, narratives that reduce the business of business to business, as seen traditionally, foster conventional rather than innovative ways of doing business. For instance, they seclude investment in worker wellbeing programs as mere philanthropy. And while worker wellbeing programs are plenty, they aren’t achieving the scale they should. This is because there is not enough research backing the return on investment they generate for businesses. We are working to solve such problems. We want to break the limited notion of business and help scale impactful worker wellbeing programs, through rigorous research. Because that, we believe, is the future of business – good business.

When workers struggle financially, it’s not just their challenge—it’s a workplace challenge. Workers are stuck in a vicious cycle of financial stress. Workers often depend on informal loans with high interest rates to meet essential and immediate expenses. The constant mental strain of meeting financial needs causes distractions, higher absenteeism and attrition rates at the workplace, which further adds to financial stress. According to the PwC study, financial stress could lead to the loss of a month’s worth of productivity in a year for each worker. What if your business could change that?? ? How does financial insecurity impact workplace performance? ? Why do so many workers rely on informal loans despite having jobs? ? What role can businesses play in bridging the gap? We explored this in our latest blog, featuring insights from a 1,400+ worker survey. #FinancialWellbeing #FinancialInclusion #EarnedWageAccess #FutureOfWork

?????? ???? ???? ?????????? ???????? ?????????? ???????? ?????? ???????????????????? ????????????????? At the Gender Champions Consortium’s (GCC) first thematic convening, industry leaders, HR professionals, & changemakers came together to tackle this question head-on. Hosted on March 6, 2025, the session focused on Attraction & Recruitment, diving deep into the barriers that keep women from entering the sector and the solutions that can change the landscape. This was not just a discussion—it was a hands-on problem-solving exercise. Participants stepped into the shoes of automotive firms, navigating real-world challenges through breakout group simulations. Group 1 tackled the talent pipeline challenge: ?? Why aren’t more women pursuing technical education relevant to automotive? ?? How can companies create early exposure, mentorship, & structured career pathways? ?? Participants discussed the impact of college partnerships, female mobilizers, and internship-to-hiring programs in bridging the gap between education and employment. Group 2 took on perception and workplace barriers: ?? How can firms shift the stereotype of the automotive sector as a male-dominated, labor-intensive industry? ?? What policies and infrastructure—transport, flexible shifts, housing—can make workplaces truly inclusive? ?? The group emphasized marketing the industry better, building role models, and ensuring women are integrated as equals, not exceptions. The session concluded with the sharing of research-backed actionable solutions, from targeted informational campaigns for the sector to multi-firm pooled transportation models to ensure affordable and safe transport solutions for workers, setting the foundation for industry-wide change. What’s next? In April 2025, we take it further with Thematic Convening 2: Culture Building—because hiring women is just the start. Creating workplaces where women thrive is the real challenge. When workers—especially women—lack financial stability, it impacts more than just their wallets. It affects their health, families, and even the ability to stay in the workforce. Many turn to high-interest informal loans or skip essential expenses just to get by. At Good Business Lab, our research on Earned Wage Access (EWA) shows that small financial interventions can make a big difference—reducing reliance on debt, improving retention, and enhancing worker well-being. Businesses can be part of the solution. Employer-backed financial programs don’t just support workers—they strengthen workplaces. A financially secure workforce is a more engaged and productive one. It's time we recognize financial stress as a workplace issue, not just a personal one. How can companies build financial resilience for their workers?
