“Now I know I can change the world,” was heard round the room at our Day of theGirl leadership summit. ??????? The girls engaged in meaningful conversations around their beliefs, hopes, and dreams for themselves and future girls. We wrote Dear America letters ???? and learned from Olivia West that we all have power as girls and that she uses hers by registering people to vote! Shia Reid gave us tips on how to achieve our goals as girls on the move like (1) Tune your haters out, (2) Find a support system, and (3) Act on your why! LiveGirl’s very own Kala Malvaso presented on philanthropy and what better way to drive the message home than with a service project?! Thank you to our friends at Dignity Grows for dropping off supplies for our packing party of basic necessities like soap, toothpaste, pads and more! We also made Blessing Bags with socks, hand warmers, vitamin c, cough drops and snacks that we will drop off to a homeless shelter. Special thanks to LiveGirl’s high school ambassadors who showed up and rolled up their sleeves under the fearless leadership of Ambika Jha, the ambassadors program’s coordinator! Ambika also closed us out with a moving charge and encouraged us to stay curious and brave! Thank you Dr. Vida Samuel, a LiveGirl Board member and an esteemed member of the UCONN faculty - for access to the beautiful UConn campus! Lastly, thank you to the Connecticut Sun for sponsoring a bus for Bridgeport girls to attend the event AND donating dope swag bags! Congrats Queen Shamare G. Holmes! Yesterday, #TeamLiveGirl attended Paradigm for Parity Annual Meeting in NYC. Happy to have LiveGirl as one of the Center for Action partners. This year's theme was, "Meet The Future Now." Those in attendance were able to hear from experts and change makers who shared so many nuggets and words of wisdom.
