In 1987, he made history by leading the $985 million acquisition of Beatrice International Foods, creating TLC Beatrice International—the first Black-owned company to surpass $1 billion in annual revenue. Listed on the Forbes 400, Lewis was the wealthiest African American man of the 1980s, and his “labor of love” continues to inspire generations of business leaders.
